Racism is a central issue for concern in the American society with the world being more acquainted to the existence of racism towards blacks in America. Nonetheless, Asians are equally victims of this vice as racism against this group can be traced back to colonial times. The issue has remained part of America for years with immense racism against Asian Americans occurring in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. As there are numerous activist actions and protests against racism towards blacks in the US, racism towards Asians calls for equal action. It is prudent to analyze the existence of Asian racism in America, statistical evidence of the problem and probable strategies that can be applied in eliminating the problem.

Young et al. (2020) research on racially socialized practices present in Asian families across the US. The researchers employ the inductive-deductive thematic analysis in their interview of twelve young Asian Americans and focus on racially propagated socialization strategies which eventually affect the racial identity of these individuals ( Young et al., 2020) . Results revealed that many young Asian Americans are often left out of important racial issues including racial socialization and dialogue ( Young et al., 2020) . The research is evident of the level to which the American society is characterized by racially instigated practices towards Asian Americans. Even as Asian American children grow up in the American society, their parents socialize them to achieve their best in school due to the unequal access to opportunities for individuals from this group ( Young et al., 2020) . It is an indication that Asian Americans are aware of the inequality they need to endure due to their racial identity and this leaves them among the disadvantaged groups. Even when racial inequality against Asian Americans is not as openly discussed in the American society as that affecting African Americans, this group is equally affected by issues of racial inequality and discrimination. The gravity of this problem is demonstrated in the statistics that showcase the prevalence of racial discrimination against this group.

McMurtry et al. (2019) focus on researching instances of racial discrimination against Asian Americans in the access to various social resources. The researchers conducted telephone surveys involving five hundred Asians and compared these to nine hundred and two Caucasian participants in the study. The findings indicated concerning levels of discrimination against Asian Americans in different areas of society. 13 percent of individuals from this group reported that they were discriminated when accessing healthcare (McMurtry et al., 2019) . Twenty seven percent reported having experienced discrimination when applying for jobs and twenty-five percent in pay and promotion opportunities. Discrimination in housing was at twenty-five percent while interpersonal aggressions including microaggressions and racial slurs were at thirty-five and thirty-two percent respectively (McMurtry et al., 2019) . When compared to the white participants, Asian Americans were more likely to keep away from health care services or seeking housing than whites. They were also more vulnerable to microaggression and racial slurs than the whites (McMurtry et al., 2019) . It is an indication of how the American society is immensely marginalized against Asian Americans. They experience racially instigated inequalities that risk their health, their psychological well-being and overall health. Racial discrimination keeps them away from important resources like healthcare and housing which means that overall quality of their lives is compromised. As action against this form of racism is not as established as that against black discrimination, Asian Americans are continually disadvantaged even as equal members of the American society.

Ho (2021) in her account of Asian and black racism in the American society during the Covid-19 period identifies that despite the prevalence of the cases of discrimination, there are strategies that can be adopted by this society to gradually eliminate the vice while promoting equality. She provides personal experiences and opinions that touch on the subject or racial discrimination. She further provides accounts of different individuals who have had immense impact on advocacy matters for Asian and African Americans ( Ho, 2021) . The author recognizes that solutions involve all members of society. She suggests that the difference will start from politicians eliminating racial slurs in their speeches to regional executive bans that keep certain individuals out of the US due to their skin color or racial identification. It is evident that solution for addressing racial discrimination against Asians is dependent on the participation of the entire American society ( Ho, 2021) . The author identifies the presence of racism and colorism among Asians and blacks as the marginalized groups ( Ho, 2021) . It is an indication that solutions need to start within the groups. Asian Americans need to be cognizant of the sanctity of Asian lives despite the difference in the color of their skin or cultural affiliation. Racial acceptance in the group will promote positive views on matters of race across the entire American society. Activist groups need to recognize that racism against Asian Americans is as rampant as that against blacks and therefore need to engage in advocacy against racism against this group. Policy at the national level needs to ensure that minority groups like Asians are well protected from discrimination through development of policies that prevent such social vices.

Overall, the aforementioned authors approach the issue of racism against Asian Americans from different angles. Young et al. (2020) recognizes the existence and gravity of this vice in the American society. McMurtry et al. (2019) on the other hand, identifies statistics that indicate the prevalence of the problem while Ho (2021) identifies ways through which the entire society can help eliminate this problem. The first paragraph ensures to recognize the depth of Asian American discrimination in the American society as supported by evidence. Paragraph two delves into statistics that demonstrate how deeply rooted the problem is while the third paragraph ensures to present ways through which it can be addressed.
