Applied behavior analysis deals with the production of replicable and predictable improvements n behavior. When it comes to the treatment of a patient treatment provider must have a plan, in order to find out what problem the client is having and how to overcome it. Applied behavior analysis in order to the definition and identify the change in behavior of the patient, this done through, interviews, direct observation, and tests. 

Furthermore, direct observation, this is where you observe the behavior of the client in the natural environment; this is done for the purpose of identifying that behavior to look out for change. For example, recording each and everything the client says and does as well as whatever happens to him (Cooper, 2007). This implies that the targeted behavior should only be selected if there firm believe that it brings out reinforcement in the client's natural health. Another one is an interview; it's an important step which is fist in getting to identify the possible target behaviors, which might be rejected or verified by subsequent, direct observations. Here there should be a focus on the environmental condition which was existing before, during and after a behavioral incidence of a patient, by use of questions like when and what.

Additionally, a checklist can be applied to check and make the identification of potential target behaviors. A checklist of behavior describes and specifies behaviors and under which conditions they are supposed to occur (Cooper, 2007). And finally, standardized tests, these test help in providing a direct measure of the patient performance of the interesting behaviors. All the above-mentioned steps will assist in coming up with a plan to treat a patient.
