There are many challenges associated with communication, especially for people who have Autism Spectrum Disorder. The Zoom session demonstrates the case of Guest Lecturer Michael Baldasare, a 34 year with Autism Spectrum Disorder, who has managed to overcome the challenges of ASD. Many times, people with Autism often have communication difficulties; they do not comprehend long sentences. According to Michael, he learned single words and phrases. He had a problem with long phrases. For instance, a phrase like "I want to use the bathroom" was problematic for understanding what someone meant. Despite all the obstacles he had, he overcame them through hard work and his speech therapist's help to practice communicating until he perfected.
Autism communication disorders can be managed through various steps, such as therapy in all forms, including physical therapy. As in Michael, he was able to participate in sports and even learn how to ride a bicycle. Communication also involves facial expression, it was the hardest for individuals with ASD, but through hard work, one can use facial expression just like Michael. He made a lot of progress in his communication skills, and he can now comprehend long sentences and even take a bus by himself. According to him, whenever he encounters an obstacle, he often reminded himself that learning never ends, and therefore people should understand learning is a process. Despite all his achievements, he still faces new challenges, but he learns new things each day through hard work and determination.

Conclusively it is amazing how Michael has turned the challenges into lessons and perfected his communication skills. Therefore, people with Autism have difficulties in communication and comprehending long phrases and sentences through therapies, support from the teachers, family, and self-drive. The lesson I learned from Michael's story is that the challenges are there, but they do not define someone.
