An automatic sprinkler system is a modern fire fighting system installed in buildings to help in containing the fire in case of an outbreak. The system mainly consists of a water source or the mainline, piped to the building and sprinklers fixed mainly on the ceilings to enable aerial spraying. The system also has fire sensors that alert the sprinklers to release water when they sense fire. In my opinion, this system is much effective and preferably when compared to the fire department.

Automatic sprinklers acts immediately a fire is detected. When it comes to fire emergencies, this system is much faster compared to the fire department who will take time to get the fore alert and the travel to the location. Upon sensing fire, the fire detector sends a signal to the water system to start sprinkling automatically which are able to suppress the fire before it spread to other locations (Garis, 2017). This helps save the situation which could have led to massive destruction in the event the fire had time to spread.

The systems are also said to be accurate when dealing with fire. In most cases, fire outbreaks come from the inside of the building. In this case, it may be difficult for the fire department to determine where the fire is emanating while outside. This consumes time before they locate the source and start containing the fire from there (Garis, 2017). However, the automatic system is able to detect the exact source of the fire and water is released from that unit making the containing of an inferno easier and faster.

The system has adequate water. The system is directly connected to the mainline meaning the water is always ready. In some cases, fire may occur in areas where fire hydrants are not installed or are far from the cite which may be tedious when the fire engine runs out of water. This also makes the automatic system more efficient and reliable.
