I would like to become a teacher in the next one year. I believe that I will make a good math teacher. Generally, not all students like math but it takes a good math teacher to make them change their attitude towards math. I would like to assist students who struggle with arithmetic to begin building confidence in their skills (Olsen, 2015). As such, I intend to make my class a place where all the students want to be. I will also employ several teaching strategies because I understand that different students learn in different ways. Therefore, I will keep up with the best practices in math education. Moreover, I will regularly incorporate the best practices into my instructions in order to help my students learn better.
I possess a set of knowledge skills and abilities that are relevant to my specific goal of being a math teacher. I have a good knowledge of algebra, geometry, trigonometry, statistics, matrices and calculus. Knowledge of algebra is essential in my area of specialization because it is a requirement for certification as a teacher. Knowledge of geometry and trigonometry is also taught in high school and it is required that I understand them perfectly.
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
Statistics is also an essential knowledge area that is essential for certification as a teacher. Moreover, statistics is taught in high school and as a teacher, I need to have a better understanding of it in order to teach well and inspire my students. Knowledge of matrices and calculus is also essential because I will need to teach such lessons in class. The above areas of knowledge will enable me to become the best math teacher.
I also possess leadership, planning, and communication and mentorship skills. Leadership skills will enable me to influence my students positively in order to inspire them to succeed (www.onetonline.org). Therefore, leadership is a desirable skill that will help me to become the best math teacher. Planning and communication skills will also assist me to properly assess the needs of my students and develop the necessary plans. I will also need to communicate my plans to the students properly for them to understand and participate in the planning process. The mentorship skills will enable me to become the best model for my students and ensure that they also succeed in math.
My confidence and ability to engage students will also help me to ensure that every student will look forward for my math lessons. Therefore, I will ensure that they also develop confidence in the problem solving skills as far as math is concerned. As such, my students will be able to score good grades.
My concentration is math because my specific goal is to become a math teacher. As such, a concentration in math enables me to acquire the requisite skills and knowledge to teach math in high school and to get the relevant certification. I have taken courses in algebra, statistics and geometry at the graduate level. The algebra course is relevant because it will help me to enable student to understand well the symbolic language of algebra so that they can develop abstract reasoning skills necessary to succeed in math and sciences. Statistics course is important because it will help me to impart the necessary analytical skills to my students (Star, 2016). Statistics is an essential skill in many fields especially in business. Geometry is an essential course because it will enable me to teach students about measurements in high school as a math teacher.
In conclusion, I am confident that I possess the necessary knowledge skill and abilities to become the best math teacher. My passion in math has influenced me to acquire the necessary skills and the appropriate attitude to inspire success in my math students.
