From what plant does your product come? Include the common and scientific name (properly formatted).
For this assignment, I choose the Asian Ginseng (common name) as my product. The scientific name of the Asia Ginseng is Panax ginseng. The product is obtained from a plant known as Asian Ginseng, which belongs to the family of Araliaceae (Encyclopedia Britannica, 2020).
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
What is the product? What does it do? How do we extract it from the plant? Describe in detail.
The product consists of the roots of the Asian Ginseng plant (mostly dried) and used both as traditional medicine and as a stimulating tea (Encyclopedia Britannica, 2020). The product is extracted from the plant by steaming the roots of the Asian Ginseng plant before they are dried in fire or under the sun.
What is the primary use: medicinal, ceremonial, etc.?
The plant is known to check the blood sugar level and cholesterol levels, aid in relaxation, and a remedy for diabetes (Nordqvist, 2017). The product is also used as a dysfunctional remedy for men (Nordqvist, 2017).
Are there commercial fields for the plant? Where?
The product contains saponins, glycosides, and other active ingredients that are used to promote general body health and in the reliving of pathological symptoms and in protecting potential diseases ( Shin et al., 2015) .
Are there any substitutes for your product? If there is no information, feel free to take an educated guess and support it.
The two main substitutes for this product are the Korean ginseng and the American ginseng. While the two alternatives may seem to be the same as the Asian Ginseng, they have been proved to have different effects on the body (WebMD, 2017). Hence, they qualify to be substituted for the original Asian ginseng.
What is the most fascinating thing you learned about your product?
The most fascinating this that I have learned from this product is how it has been used in the treatment of common ailments by the traditional Chinese, and how it finds a corresponding application today. I am also fascinated by the several potential health benefits and the fact that it is available in more than one type, and each type has different effects on the body when used as a remedy.
