On the question “What are the Non-Negotiable Truths”, I agree with Boyd, as much as I agree with person 1 and 2. Boyd has qualified creation, the fall, redemption, and the end to come as non-negotiable truths. Indeed, these things occurred and one is connected to the other (Boyd, 2013). For instance, the fall of man by disobeying God at the Garden of Eden brought about sin into the world, and death. Majorly, it also led to a delineation of man from God since man fell short of the glory of God that he once had. God organized a plan of redemption, through the Lord Jesus Christ who is one of the Trinity to reconcile man to God. Jesus Christ died and rose again to redeem man, He is sitting at the right hand of the Father and is almost coming to take the saints home, which encompasses resurrection and marks the end to come. These simple truths should be strongly embraced by true Christians. In addition, true Christians may not find it difficult to recognize that these are exactly what happened because of the love of God for the whole world. The love of God for humans should motivate us as true Christians to reciprocate the same. We can only reciprocate by loving and appreciating those that He loves too, it is the way of showing the light to the whole world as we prepare for the coming of Christ.
Three Degrees of Separation
In regards to the Three Degrees of Separation, it is intriguing that Christians today are careful to demonstrate the new nature of Christ in them. Christians should allow Christ to live in them just as Paul said, “It is not me that lives, but Christ who lives in me (Galatians 2:20).” Our mandate as Christians should be to be ambassadors of Christ who always stood for the will of the Father, and not anything else. Colson seems to have lost the whole idea because Christianity should not be seen to blend with politics and the world. There should be total separation from the world. Christians should be respected in a nation because of their influence through their pronouncements. For instance, Elijah was very aggressive at challenging all the corrupt and evil practices in Israel, when Ahab was king. The world itself wants counsel on the issues of poverty, politics, and abortion. I support Claiborne’s idea that the moment Christians are endorsing or not speaking about the critical issues of the society; they are simply allowing it to be there (Colson, Boyd, & Claiborne, 2008). Christians should always be there to support only the will of God.
