The training system an individual chooses to follow is based on the person’s fitness level, body type, and goals. One training system cannot therefore be prescribed to all who come for training but it needs to personalized and observing the seven laws of training for it to be classified as a good fitness program. The suitability of Crossfit, BFS (bigger faster stronger) and HIT (high intensity training) as training systems was analyzed and the most appropriate system for me chosen.

The uniqueness of BFS is the concept of unification . The idea is that all high school athletes, even college athletes for that matter, adhere to the same training philosophy. All athletes, regardless of their sport, perform the exact same core weight training exercises, similar speed and agility activities, and similar plyometric exercises. For the younger athletes, the training changes to the BFS Readiness Program where it emphasizes on perfect technique first and the strength will follow. Crossfit is a strength and conditioning system built on constantly varied, if not randomized, functional movements executed at high intensity. Balance and accuracy is usually achieved through a range of conditioning and strength exercises such as battle ropes and plyometrics. HIT involves short, highly intensive periods of exercise, followed by short rest periods. The rationale is that mixing high intensity cardio activities like sprinting with strength training allows the athlete to burn maximum calories in the shortest amount of time.

Of the three systems, Crossfit had the worst record of breaking the seven laws of training. By putting together so many different sports and activities, it allows one to be a jack of all trades and a specialist in none thus detrimental for those specialized professional athletes e.g. the amount of training it takes to create great endurance limits your ability to lift heavy weights. We all have different strength levels, skeletal structures and fitness goals thus n o program fits all individuals. Since I am not a professional athlete, I’d personally prefer a mix of Crossfit with HIT to increase my strength and endurance while keeping my body toned and cardiovascular region in good shape. The agility that comes with Crossfit would also be a plus for me.
