Human behavior is influenced by biological and genetic make-up. The biological factors, just like the environmental and emotional factors, affect the wellbeing of relationships. This assignment examines the possible malfunctions in the biological makeup that could contribute to a toxic relationship for the illustrated case study. This paper will focus on the genetic, nervous system and the neurons communication that dictate certain behavior.

Female Partner

Neuron functionality in the female triggers emotional instability. The emotional instability and mood are illustrated when she raises her voice and yells when they seek help. This indicates that the question triggers the neuron from the resting potential to the action potential that makes her respond in anger regarding their relationship. The state of the relationship is a trigger of negative feelings, and it causes her to be agitated. As she speaks, her cell membrane potential starts to lower, and she keeps quiet when it gets back to the resting potential.

Increased level of Glutamate transmitter in her brain cells increases the likelihood of experiencing anxiety symptoms. She is worried that her partner does not listen to her nor give her the attention she requires from him. This increased level causes harm to the emotional wellbeing as she is just worried that something bad will occur. It does not allow her to develop alternative thoughts or explanation of what could be happening to their relationship.

Serotonin is a hormone associated with the regulation of sleep, mood, attention and learning. From the case illustrated, she has low levels of serotonin, which are affecting her ability to sleeping because her partner reports that she never sleeps. The inability to sleep affects her mood due to fatigue and stress that arises from a failure to have enough sleep. Low levels of serotonin affect her attention ability which makes hinders her from listening to her partner nor learning how to deal with the changes in their relationship as well as developing new approaches that allow the adopt to changes.

Male partner

The feeling portrayed by the male partner is as a result of reduced oxytocin hormone, which plays an important role in sexual orgasm and promotes bonding. The feeling that his partner is always doing something has inhibited the production of this hormone, which has greatly affected the emotional bonding and the ability to have a healthy relationship. This has caused them to be distanced and increased the occurrence of the violent verbal relationship (King, 2017)

The genetic differences between him and his partner is a contributing factor to the unhealthy emotional relationship experienced. The behavior of a person is attributed by his genetic makeup, being born of different parents; their expectation of the relationship is different. Male have different expectations from women. He expects to be given full attention by his partner, which he is not getting because his partner is lost in many other activities, which makes him feel neglected.

The difference in the nervous system leads to differing interpretation of what is happening in their relation. The integration of the different aspects of the nerves system yield different responses to the problems being felt. Based on the activities his partner is engaged in from time to time, he has developed an adaptability response that has drawn him away from her. He does not take her out because he feels she is too busy as well as he does not listen to her because he is convinced she needs to calm down fast for them to have a healthy talk.

In conclusion, biological aspects are the unseen influences that affect the decisions taken by people. Their occurrences alter the cognition of a person as well as impacts their outward behavior. For the couple to experience a healthy emotional relationship, there is a need to ensure they have a balanced biological environment at all times.
