Diverse theories explain the adults' learning process, and each has its merits and a certain degree of viability. The more we engage in the pursuit of knowledge, the more we realize that adults learn numerous ways compared to children ( Joshi, 2017 ). One needs to be aware of how adults learn as they transitioned from beginners to expertise specializing in their professional area. With all the transitions as they gain more knowledge in their professional developments, they change to full learner autonomy with the free will to decide what to learn and the learning techniques they should incorporate ( Colman, 2019 ). At this stage, adults do not need much control from their tutors. Therefore, andragogy as one of the adult learning theories still proves to be a viable and essential foundation for teaching adults.

Adult learners have garnered many experiences giving them the ability to identify what is viable to learn based on what they want and how to learn it. Therefore, it is distinctive that adults tend to be interested, enjoy, and prefer learning more relevant things and use their knowledge and skills to solve problems ( Online.pointpark.edu, 2016 ). The pragmatic approach enables adults to find solutions to challenges they face rather than just forming ideas that may fail to solve the problem.

Andragogy learning theory also supports that adults learn better when engaged in relevant activities, support pragmatic approach by applying their knowledge and experience to solve problems, and need to engage in planning learning instructions. Consequently, learning theory is still the viable principle for teaching adults ( Colman, 2019 ). Additionally, it encourages teachers to perform better by linking learning experiences to adult learners' already established knowledge. Therefore, andragogy gives room for personal opinions, knowledge and skill check and rechecks, adequate spacing, and enables adult learners to leverage their skills and knowledge against the new concepts they are being taught, making learning sessions more relevant and self-directed.
