The brain is the body organ that is in control of the general body functioning. It helps one to interpret information from the outside environment. It governs an individual’s intelligence, memory and creativity. Information gets transformed into the brain through touch, taste, smell, hearing and sight. Such kind of information gets assembled by the brain and provides meaningful information in the memory. All eight parts of the brain have different functions. The frontal lobe is the brain part that is in charge of problem-solving. It is in charge of high-cognitive skills such as planning, thinking and organizing.
The part of the brain that is responsible for processing memory is the temporal lobe (Shen et al., 2017) . It is located between the parietal and occipital lobes and performs auditory functions among them working with the hippocampus and amygdala to process memory. All visual memories get processed and stored in the temporal lobe. Emotions get processed by the amygdala part of the brain. This is a section of the brain which that receives inputs from other functions of the brain such as attention and memory. It is almond-shaped and responds to emotions such as fear and anger. The abnormal functioning of the amygdala leads to abnormal conditions such as depression, stress and phobia.

Sensation and perception are separate processes that relate closely. An unusual concept that I learned about the processes is the fact that the former process involves the input of the physical world that the sensory receptors obtain while the latter is the process whereby the brain selects and interprets the received receptors. Senses convert real-time information in electrical information that gets processed by the brain (Privitera, 2020). Our perception is how we can interpret such information and this determines our experience in the world. Therefore, sensations get to be combined to create certain perceptions.
