Blackberry belongs is a diverse group of hybrids and species in the genus Rubus. Blackberry is a member of the Rosaceae family and it is closely related to the strawberry. The blackberry I have comes from the United States. It has thereby traveled 4242 miles. The vast movement of food between nations benefits developing nations in various ways. One of the ways is that the movement of food enhances food security. Some developing nations do not produce enough food to sustain them ( Kasapila & Shaarani, 2011). The movement of food thereby enables most developing to sustain themselves in terms of food. Another benefit for developing nations is the movement of food enables them to diversify their nutrition. Most developing countries do not produce a wide variety of products. The movement of food thereby enables people in these countries to enjoy a wide of foods. There are various benefits of buying fresh local foods. One of the benefits is that fresh local foods are full of flavor and nutrients due to their freshness. Most local foods are sold within a short time of harvest. As such, they are normally very nutritious. Another benefit is that buying local foods is safer since such foods are less handled ( Allouche, 2011). Local foods go through a few individuals before reaching the consumer and this makes to be safe. Personally, I buy local foods. With regard to living without blackberry, I can live without it since while it is important, it is not a necessity. In addition, there are local substitutes. One of the local substitutes is the strawberry which has similar nutritional value ( Khoury et al., 2014). With respect to buying a blackberry in the future, I will still buy it since I love it. Buying it will help boost trade between my country and other countries. As such, it is important that I continue buying it.
