Human beings have five basic senses, that is, touch, sight, hearing, smell, and taste. All these senses work in unison to help a person perceive and fathom their environment. Of the five, sight, as a sense, really stands out from the group. I consider sight as an essential sense a human being can have. It is through sight that human beings communicate without using words. For instance, non-verbal cues during communication are solely assessed and interpreted by a person’s eyes. Furthermore, in cases where information needs to be passed discretely, say a confidential document, the sender jots down the message, while the receiver uses their eyes to decode and understand what has been written.

Moreover, taking into consideration the technological advancements that are taking place today, sight becomes a critical factor in today’s world. For example, a significant proportion of the world today has access to a smartphone. Regular inputs of the smartphone rely much on what the user sees and interacts with on the screen. Such activities would be impossible without the sense of sight. Matters like these affirm to my position that the sense of sight is the most important among all the other basic human senses. In fact, it is because of the sense of sight that one can read this article.

Response 2

Albert Bandura’s Social Learning Theory tries to explain the relationship between a person and his or her environment, that is, how the person shapes the environment and how the environment shapes the person. Most human behaviors are attributed to this theory. For instance, tying a shoelace. This is something I do daily, and I learned it by watching my parents do it while I was young. For a person to learn through observation, certain conditions have to be met.

Attention is the first concern. To learn, the person observing has to focus on what is being displayed. This is then followed by retention, which involves memory. The ability of a person to remember the images as displayed is crucial for successful modeling. Once you have memorized the images, reproducing them is the next phase. Lastly, motivation to imitate is the final factor for effective modeling. When all these factors are met, a person can effectively learn behavior through observation, as in the case of tying my shoelace.
