Political settlement approach is a framework which explains the importance of power sharing or distribution for the purposes of comprehending the economic and political consequences of principles and policies. In Ghana, political settlement approach is not a reality because power has been personalized and it only rests in the hands of a few people. From the year 2000 after Jerry Rawlins left authority the political environment became extremely competitive and political patronage became the norm. It led to public organizations to be weak with rampant reports of corruption by the people in power. “The winner takes all” context is the case in Ghana because the ruling parties do not share power as they only work towards meeting the demands of their supporters who mobilize votes. In this case the business/private entities suffer because public policies are made in favor of those in power together with their supporters. There is no equitable distribution and resource allocation. The policies made do not favor the private sector but majorly those in power. On the contrary if political settlement approach was exercised in Ghana then business/private entities would perform better because they would benefit from equal distribution of power which in turn leads to equitable resource allocation.
