The EOPS program has gone a long way in assisting underprivileged students in completing their college education. Being a beneficiary of the plan, I am grateful to have received the EOPS scholarship. The scholarship has facilitated my college education and has seen me through the period that I have been in the Cerritos College. Not only has the award benefitted me financially, but also it has helped me in priority registration, career, and personal counseling.
The program has provided a path for my career development. Career counselors helped me in realizing my interests through career testing, which has enabled me to take up a course in teaching. Seeing as I want to develop my career in education, EOPS has offered me an opportunity in priority registration. Through priority registration, I have been able to enroll in all my classes before they were full successfully. Being able to attend all classes has improved my knowledge and enthusiasm knowing that by the end of my college education, I shall be well equipped to make a difference in the lives of the students that I shall teach in future.

Furthermore, EOPS has provided me with counseling services that have facilitated my emotional and psychological stability. Previously, I was faced with the challenge of an abusive relationship that caused me acute stress that almost resulted in PTSD. However, my counselor noticed my emotional state by assessing my transcripts and realizing a drop in my 4.0 GPA. She then recommended a psychiatrist and ensured that I had received psychiatric help. This counseling helped me a great deal in leaving the abusive relationship and retaining my emotional stability. I have since focused more on my studies, as I hope to have a better GPA this semester. EOPS has helped me in both school work and counseling. The California College EOPS Scholarship can only be utilized for better.
