Career management is essential as it helps to maximize su ccess and happiness from the hours invested in working. When an individual completes their professional duties promptly, and more effectively, satisfaction is gained. It is also a motivation factor as it helps to handle the next task without fear of failing. Developing the talent and skills that an individual possess helps them gain unique contribution, thus becoming more competitive than fellow workers. Any opportunity which opens up in the market should be embraced and used as a way of improving a profession. There are different ways that can be used in career advancement.

Setting career goals and developing a plan to achieve them can assist in professional development. Work will be much easier when there is an ultimatum as I will be motivated towards achieving the set goals within the time frame set. Every day I will be working to find new ways of achieving the goals, which indicates career development in the process due to the new skills gained for the operations. Using the plan to guide me will also be much easier since I will not lose focus or slow down due to not knowing the next step I would be taking (DuBrin, 2011). The plan will also be a step-by-step guide, which makes it easy to work towards the goal without being disrupted by other things. It is essential to measure how I will be performing along the path of achieving my goals, which will help determine my strong and weak points.

Capitalizing on my strengths, working on my weaknesses and building my brand will enhance my career. While working on my goals, I will be recording the milestone, to determine the personal factors that promote my work and those that hinder me from performing excellently. I will capitalize on my strengths my using them on any task I need to accomplish and same time work on my weak points to avoid slowing me down. I can choose to work on areas which I am better at, which means the output will be maximized and then seek help on a task which I am poor at so that I can learn in the process. Determining my strong points will help in building my brand. I will also incorporate the values, standards, and principles that will guide me in my career. Self-development will enhance my strengths thus making me more effective.

I will engage actively in continuous learning and self-development to enhance my career. The work market keeps on changing, and new talent and skills are being preferred. To keep competitive, I will attend any training programs established in the place of work. I will also conduct personal studies on the current skills and expertise required in my field using the internet (Noe, Hollenbeck, Gerhart, & Wright, 2017). I will then put the new skills into practice in the place of work to make sure that I know where to apply them. Personal development will also improve my brand as it will set clear what I am about and my skills and expertise.

Career development enhances satisfaction, and one does not work because of the money rewards alone. Satisfaction makes an individual feel that they have a higher purpose they are working towards. That is how passion is developed, and it results in high output for the individual and the organization.
