Smith International is in the process of changing its executive management. This change entails the shift of the staff, teams, and organization to suit a favorable future state. The executive management has a great impact on the company’s strategy and the corporate culture, but for the management change to be effective, there are some internal dynamics associated with this change that the company need to consider.
First, the employees can influence the change process by accepting or denying the implementation since the new executive management might be obtained through hiring of new individual or promoting a junior employee (Zecheru, 2012). Therefore, the staff members need to be informed about the change so that they can get ready for the changes in the entire company’s culture and strategies. Furthermore, communication is essential within the company because the staff and all the members in the organization understand the need for a change and take part in the decision-making to make good decision on the best person for the position.

Another internal dynamic associated with the change is the organization’s politics (Zecheru, 2012). The decision-making on the executive management change either through hiring a new person or promoting a junior staff within the organization is influenced by internal politics. Political influence on decision-making can be experience when the committee responsible for making the final decision on the suitable person uses their powers to choose a person of their interest. On the other hand, political influence can positively affect the decision-making and successful change experienced (Zecheru, 2012). It is noteworthy that the change will lead to the disruption in the company’s hierarchy, strategies, and culture hence, the company needs to consider the dynamic of political influence on the change such that the new executive management will change the company’s culture and strategy to improve the employees ‘performance and outcomes.
