Christianity as a religion originated from Abraham’s descendants and is concerned with the life and teachings of Jesus who is the son of God. Christians believe that Jesus is the savior of the world which was full of sin and his coming was prophesied in the Old Testament. The religion emerged during the 1 st century. Christianity as a religion is composed of different denominations such as Catholics and Baptists among others. Regardless of the many denominations, all Christians have some common elements. For instance, they all believe in God and the Bible. Christian religious teachings review the life, teachings and death of Jesus Christ who was sent by his father to save the world from sin. It is the largest religion and the most widely spread. Members of the Christian community believe in God, Jesus Christ, the trinity, life after death, justification, faith and the saint as discussed hereinafter.

There is only one God who is believed to be supreme in power according to the Christian faith. God is referred to as the father who had a son named Jesus Christ that was sent by his father to save the world from sin (Kostenberger & O'Brien, 2017). He saved mankind from death and sin and his teachings are about God’s love to his people. Jesus’ only mission was to fulfil God’s law and not to teach it. Christians are Trinitarians who have their belief in the holy trinity. In this doctrine, God does not exist as three different beings but he is a complete God in each of the three forms. The difference among the three forms of the holy trinity is seen in the way they relate. The father is not brought into existence by anything, the son is brought into existence by the father and the Holy Spirit is brought into existence by God who is the father.

Churches that preach the gospel are concerned about how humanity can be saved from sin and death. It is believed that Jesus paid a ransom through his death to restore the lost relationship between humanity and God. Through his death, the wrath of God which resulted from the sinful nature of man, ended. Christians must remain faithful to God in order to get salvation. However, they have different views about how individuals get salvation from God. While some dominions believe that human beings cannot be freed from sin, other dominions believe that God has mercy upon everyone and is ready to forgive any kind of sin through repentance.

Christians believe in Justification by faith (McGrath, 2019) . The only way in which they can have a righteous relationship with God is by believing in Jesus Christ, the son of God who died and resurrected and through whom all sins are forgiven. They believe in the holy trinity which consists of God the father, God the son and the God the Holy Spirit. This aspect has, however, brought contradictions in other religions because they confuse the holy trinity with the belief that Christians worship three gods which is not true.

God is a divine being who is invisible and presents himself through the Holy Spirit. The teachings about life and death convince Christians that life is eternal and does not end when one dies. The actual nature of life is however not known. It is believed that life after death does not bring any kind of suffering. Christians communicate to God through prayer. It is written in the Bible that Jesus taught his disciples the manner in which they should pray and they were to address God as the father. This tradition has continued to exist in Christians’ lives ever since Jesus returned to heaven. While prayer is always directed to God, some Christian dominions make prayers through saints such as Mary as seen in Catholics.

In Christianity, the church is believed to be God’s body on earth. Their faith is natured through the church and it is believed to be a sacred place where the Holy Spirit manifests itself. Members of Christian religion go through baptism as a way of getting born again and showing their commitment to God. God is the creator of all things on earth and in the universe and Jesus is one with God. It was through the holy spirit of God that Jesus was conceived through a virgin. He was crucified and killed but he rose from the dead and will come back to give judgment to the living and the dead.

Christians believe in Jesus Christ as the son of God who is a divine being and those who believe in him and abide by his lessons have been promised eternal life. Jesus died for humanity and he was risen from the dead by God (Novello, 2016) . They wait upon him to return for the second time. Eschatology is the Christians’ belief in the end of things such as end of the world. It is believed that the second coming of Jesus will mark the end of time and all those who died will be brought back to life in order to be judged. This will mark the establishment of the kingdom of God and it will be a fulfilment of the prophecy.

How adhering to Christianity will function in my chosen career

As a way of developing leadership qualities in my career, Biblical teachings that expect me to do everything to make God proud have helped me hold on to good values as a way of being an effective leader. I have been able to achieve my goals by following Christ’s teachings through interpretation of the bible. I maximize the use of my skills and talents in my career because they are provided by God who expects us to be productive through such skills and talents. Being part of a larger team at my work place, I believe that I am not only responsible for the quality of my work but I should also be faithful to God in my career and seek his guidance. God expects us to be of service to others at all times and therefore, as a leader, it is important for me to give others an opportunity to exercise their gifts.

Adherence to Christianity religion gives me encouragement to work hard as the bible illustrates that God expects men to work hard ever since the time of creation. Bible scriptures about hard work give me the encouragement whenever I feel like giving up. Jesus, the only son of God, was a carpenter just like his father. Through the biblical teachings about love, I have been able to relate well with my coworkers and this has enhanced a positive working environment.

Patience as a Christian virtue has helped me develop positive work ethics at my work place through the Christian teachings. This is because Christian teachings view work as a virtues duty which has been mandated to us by God. My relationships with others have developed positively through biblical teachings. Such relationships are important to us as employees. I have developed the attitude of obedient as Christian teachings expect servants to be obedient to their masters.

In everything we do we should do it in the glory of God. This indicates that work is meant to be part of life and as I indulge in my daily activities at work, I handle my tasks carefully and treat my fellow employees with love. I enjoy carrying out my tasks and I do it to my level best as though I am doing it for God. It is important for me to demonstrate love for God at work by seeking his direction before indulging in my daily duties. Through the biblical teachings about love, I treat my coworkers with kindness and provide them with the required support.

I look forward to serving my coworkers by putting their needs before mine. Biblical teachings encourage me to help and offer words of encouragement to those that need help. God expects us to partner with him in our careers. By seeking his strength and direction, I have been able to excel in my career and I work with excellence as a way of influencing others to become successful. Each of us has a different role to play. For this reason, I partner with my colleagues in different departments to work together towards achieving the expected goals.
