The works of paintings and drawings are some of the best visually appealing and globally recognized arts in the world. Civilizations have crafted various paintings over the years with the most notable being the Monalisa at the Louvre. The painter Andrew Wyeth created the masterpiece ‘Christina’s World’ that is globally acclaimed and treasured by Americans.

The artwork was created by Wyeth as part of his creative masterpieces depicting the life of his friend and neighbor Olson Christina. The painting is believed to have been created in 1948 although it was not famous at the time. The work was created in America and it bears the hallmarks of an emotionally connective piece. Christina’s World showed the exact depiction of the real Olson as she crawled on the grass because she could not walk. The art work represents a deep emotional connection between the artist and the situation which he tried to depict. Similarly, I felt attached to the art work because I was able to understand the use of imagery in the depiction of normal life.

The intention of the artist was to portray the image of a beautiful girl sitting on the grass with her long dress draping over her body. However, I learnt that most things in life are often misjudged and misrepresented based on the wishes of the artist. It depicts the reality of life in its entirety. People can make decisions or conclusions based on wrong or misleading information. Essentially, it showed the reality of life that we can often use visual art to showcase different aspects of life: on one hand, the picture is a beautiful girl enjoying the sun on grass; or the reality which is Olson suffered from a muscular degenerative disorder making her unable to walk.
