Technology is a vital aspect of modern life. Among the technologies that I would find it difficult to go through the day without is my mobile phone. Additionally, my laptop is an essential piece of technology that I rely upon on a daily basis. Moreover, cars are a technology that I deem vital to facilitate transport on a daily basis. Furthermore, electrical light is another technology that has proven to be critical especially during the night. These technologies do have some negative impacts on my life. This is due to the fact that overreliance on technology for the commitment of tasks has led to inefficiency and even immobility in their absence. Additionally, the presence of these technologies induces a dormant lifestyle mostly devoid of physical activity.

One scientific discovery that makes modern life possible is the invention or discovery of electricity and the means to harness it. Electricity is an essential component of everyday life given that a wide variety of technologies that are used on a daily basis rely upon electricity to function.
List as many negative and positive impacts you can think of that this scientific discovery and the technology that it allowed to be developed may have, evaluate whether the positives outweigh the negatives on overall and vice versa.
The invention of electricity has contributed to the discovery of a wide array of technologies that have transformed the life of humans as they had known it to be. For instance, the discovery of electricity led to the invention of the light bulb which has remained to be relevant as a preferred source of light in homes. Moreover, electricity powered plants and industries have led to mass production and the evolution of the global market place as a result of increased output. The use of electricity has led to the invention of medical equipment which has transformed healthcare and treatment leading to reduced mortality rates in addition to the prevalence of diseases among the human population. Additionally, technologies such as mobile technology, communication and computers rely upon electricity and have significantly influence the world. However, the increased efficiency by the various technologies that have been invented have led to dormancy and increased cases of obesity. Additionally, electricity technology has resulted in the proliferation of dangers that face humans as small mistakes prove to be fatal. On average, the positive impacts of electricity outweigh the negatives.

One advantage of high tech research approach to medical treatment and care is the fact that preventative medicine has critically contributed to the reduction in both the global morbidity and mortality rates. This is given the fact that the manufacture and use of vaccination significantly relies upon research and technology to ensure that vaccination has the strength required to ensure that diseases are alleviated ( Tang & Eisenbrand, 2013) . One disadvantage of western high tech approach to medical treatment is the fact that it is both resource and capital intensive which makes it unavailable and inaccessible to some portions of the population.
Describe one advantage and one disadvantage of traditional medicine as an approach to medical treatment
Traditional medicine is extracted from available herbs and other natural forms of treatment which have been proven to be safe and devoid of side effects in addition to being easily available for a majority of individuals ( Tang & Eisenbrand, 2013) . On the other hand, traditional medicine has been proven to be more prone to error and misdiagnosis leading to inefficiency in the treatment of some conditions.
Are there benefits of having multicultural approaches to medical treatment?
It is a fact that scientific inquiry and research in medicine has been a subject of great contempt among practitioners and scholars of medicine given the fact that it is bombarded with a myriad of challenges ( Williamson et al., 2016) . However, it is evident that scientific approach of treatments had resulted in significant strides as far as medical treatment and care is concerned. Traditional medicine has however been proven to be almost as effective with some individuals and societies deciding to practice traditional medicine exclusively ( Williamson et al., 2016) . However, a multicultural approach to medicine is bound to give individuals the comprehensive medical experience that they require given the accessibility of traditional medicine and the thoroughness of western scientific approach to medicine.

Traditional medicine has been proven to be effective in achieving treatment and cure without using science and to this extent therefore, it could be used to compliment western treatment ( Williamson et al., 2016) For instance, treatments which may be too harmful or cumbersome to the patients may be substituted with traditional treatments which have less side effects and have been proven to alleviate conditions that would otherwise be difficult to treat such as depression and addiction. Additionally, the traditional approach has been proven to be ineffective in some cases due to lack scientific evidence that the practices are safe and effective. Adoption of scientific inquiry in some process would validate most of the traditional medicine practices.
Discuss any challenges there may be in combining these two different cultural approached to treatment that have a very different level of reliance on scientific research and technology.
One of the most significant challenges that would emerge as a result of the combining of the two different approaches to treatment is the lack of trust in traditional medicine by a majority of individuals ( Yuan et al., 2016) . This is bound to affect the rate of adoption of the combined strategies as they pertain to the administration of medical care. Additionally, given the fact that scientific approach of medicine has been proven to use treatment and cure that is riddled with side effects, individuals often raise opposition to modern medicine even when it is effective for their case without extensive side effects ( Yuan et al., 2016) .
