Part 1: Pre-Assessment and Implementation
Grade level of mentor class : 4TH Grade The 4th-grade mentor class focuses its lesson on the food chain, which falls under natural environmental. Standards taught in mentor class : Above average. Description of unit taught in mentor class : The subject based on the natural ecosystem of animals. It focuses on the living creature how they are dependent on the environment and also the classification based on their eating patterns. The unit entails both the physical, scientific, and life sciences. |
150-200-word description of Pre-assessment: Out of the 3-5 students selected from this lesson, it clearly shows that they are above average in regards to how well they can interpret the subject. Again, the instructor ensured all the essential instruments and materials needed in these lessons are available. A better understanding of the topic students was able to have a closure of what they were working. With the use of the food chain, the students were able to effectively differential how different animals adopt a specific eating pattern. The ecosystem is a broad topic, and more research was critical to cover a wide range of different species. Understanding the theoretical concept of how and why different species adopt a specific type of food was vital in this topic. Most students were found to know about this topic from just what they learned in class. More time is crucial in allowing the students to integrate what taught in class and what is happening in real life. Individual research is also critical so that each student will have a different perspective on the subject that lesson will prove. |

Part 2: Reflection
My field experience was better than any other because it involves dealing with the environment, which creates a lot of enthusiasm and liveliness. Again, the fact that one is fully engaged in understanding the concepts attached to living organism establishes a sense of curiosity to dig deeper. In regards to this, one can spot any student who is fully engaged in this field experience. I was able to identify students for my pre-assessment by checking the questions asked by each student. Again, the independent work each student worked on much helped in determining who I was to involve. The pre-assessment was vital in determining the learning gaps because one could analyze the views and perception of each student in regards to the subjects. Besides, the response I got from the students in regards to their learning experience and exposure to the environment and reading materials much helped. Standards taught above average more where efforts put by both parties that is the students and teacher. For instance, the teacher ensures that all students are fully participating in answering the question. Ethics in assessment is crucial because it prevents biasness and enhances decision making. Besides, ethics helps in determining what expected and needed according to the information gathered. However, there were several challenges I encountered when developing my pre-assessment. Some of these challenges were insufficient data, which leads to misconceptions. Some respondents were unwilling to participate in this exercise and lack of sufficient time to exhaustively analyze the topic. The findings are vital in my future professional because it sets my foundation in understanding the ecosystem.
