Healthy People 2020 goal seeks to empower the community to be aware of available resources to make informed decisions concerning their health. As a result, preventable diseases are minimized. My area of interest is health-care associated infection, particularly the catheter associated urinary tract infections. The target healthcare organization will be St Mary’s Medical Center 901 45th St, West Palm Beach 561-844-6300. Urinary tract infection can be prevented through proper sexual hygiene, staying hydrated, and urinating when that need arises. Such information, when it is made available to patients, can help to minimize the incidences of urinary tract infections. The following clinical objectives have been identified:
Recognize catheter associated urinary tract infections.
Analyze data reducing CAUTI’s.
Evaluate evidence-base practice on CAUTI prevention.
Understand the etiology of catheter associated urinary tract infections.
Examine the effectiveness of CAUTI prevention program at the healthcare organization
Identify the challenges and applicability of the existing CAUTI prevention
The clinical objectives above are aligned to the Healthy People 2020 goal of prevention of infections, empowering the community, and enhancing patient’s autonomy on health matters. Prevention of CAUTI will fast-track the treatment and recovery period and improve the healthcare outcome. The information gathered will be used to empower patients and to improve the prevention programs at the be St Mary’s Medical Center 901 45th St, West Palm Beach.
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
Dorothea Orem self- care model was selected because of its relevance and applicability in fostering patient autonomy on health, promoting prevention, and empowering patients through evidence-based practices. The model is applicable in the healthcare setting where the goal is to encourage patients to take an active and independent role in addressing their healthcare needs (Irshad, 2018). In the case of St Mary’s Medical Center, the goal is to identify the gaps in prevention of urinary tract infections and providing the relevant information for future improvements.
