One of the responsibilities of clinical supervisors is to oversee other care providers, such as counsellors ensure there is proper delivery. Also, the supervisor assesses various workplace-related needs that exist, such as the need for equipment. Through an examination of patient records, the supervisor sets the long term and short term goals for the patient treatment process. An ineffective supervisor lacks compatibility with supervisees as opposed to the ideal supervisor who learns the abilities of supervisees ( Falender, 2018 ). In most cases, an ineffective supervisor is not aggressive in following up on all supervisees' performance. As experienced during the internship period, my supervisor embodies an effective supervisor's characteristics as he can manage the service delivery through evaluation of supervisees' performance.

Essentially, an ideal supervisor needs to ensure that service provision to patients is ethically and professionally delivered. This delivery is ensured by creating a good work relationship with supervisees. There is a need for constant evaluation of performance.
