Isotonic contractions  Isometric contractions
The size of the muscles varies  The size of muscles remains constant
Tension does not change  Tension varies
Shorter latent and contraction time with an extended relaxation time  Longer latent and contraction time with a reduced relaxation period
A rise in temperature increases the shortening period  Rise in temperature reduces isometric tension
An isotonic contraction produce less energy since more heat is being released.  Isometric contractions produces more energy since less heat is being released
Shortening occurs due to an external work being done  Shortening does not occur since there is no external activity being done
Isotonic contractions happen during the process of a muscle contraction  Isometric contraction happens at the start and end of muscle contractions.
Isotonic contractions reduce when the load becomes more during muscle contractions  Isometric contraction rises when load increases during muscle contractions

Comparative Table between Aerobic (Endurance) and Anaerobic (Resistance) Exercises

Aerobic  Anaerobic
Aerobic activity uses Slow-twitch muscle fibers.  Anaerobic activity uses fast-twitch muscle fibers
Aerobic activity is carried out constantly which favors cardiovascular conditioning and muscular endurance  Anaerobic activity is carried out in quick periods and results to greater strengths.
Aerobic exercises uses oxygen during an activity which enables runners to run for long distances  Anaerobic exercise uses energy from the muscle storage during an activity and requires short exercises such as jogging.

The different ways living organisms obtain energy

On the other hand, living organisms obtain and use energy through three different processes. These processes include catabolism, metabolism and anabolism. To start with, catabolism process also known as destructive catabolism occurs when cells breakdown multifaceted substances as well as molecules into less complex substances to release energy for use. Meanwhile, Anabolism process also referred to as constrictive anabolism entails living organism using simpler substances or develop multifaceted substances for instance proteins, fats and carbohydrates for storage. Lastly, metabolism is the combination of processes, anabolic activity and catabolic activity inside the cells of living organisms to produce energy.
