Step 1
The Conflict of the God’s is among Carlos Fuentes’s five-part documentary series, The Buried Mirror. Reflection of Spain and the New World. In the documentary, Fuentes focuses on the detailed, poorly recognized cultures that predate relationship with the Spain colonials, specifically, the Aztecs of Mexico ("Conflict of the gods.mp4", 2018). Many stories revolving around the Aztec are told, their need for human blood, their forfeits and sacrifices, their fighter culture and control over what is today referred to as central Mexico. To a considerable extent, Fuentes try to provide to his audience the facts and lies about the Aztecs. To ensure a clear understanding, he takes the audience a tour across the Aztec and Maya Pyramids and explains their astronomy and tranquility. He further affirms that their prophecies anticipated the comeback of their blond-haired supporter god from exile creates an ironic, vague turn on the termination of the Aztecs and Maya immediately after getting in touch with the Spanish.
According to Fuentes, this work is devoted to the search for the cultural sustainability that can tell and transcend the economic and political fracture and division of the Hispanic world ( Shumway, 1992). The major target audience for this work is the Latin Americans. With the diverse use images such as Gibraltar and showing how the Roman invasion of Spain, he hopes the White American is listening ( Shumway, 1992). For this, it seems as though the North Americans are also his key principals.

Step 2
By taking his audience a trip to explore the Aztec and Maya rich cultures, Mr. Fuentes major aim is to enlighten the viewers on the historical cultures Aztec and Maya that have for many years impacted political and economic wellbeing of nations ("Conflict of the gods.mp4", 2018). His major aim is to touch on all Spanish and Spanish-American history using the different parenthesis such as artist, political icons, and paintings ( Shumway, 1992). From the historical cultures, Mr. Fuentes wants the audience to understand where the boundary between the North and South begun and understand it's a coherent unit.
Step 3
Before watching the documentary, I was conversant with its subject since Mr. Fuentes is one of the renowned and iconic novelists whose works are known across the world. I read about him and some of his works. From my historical knowledge, I understand that Hispanic group is one of the largest ethnic group in the United States but have no common similarities. Additionally, I was eager to explore their rich culture that has not been disclosed despite the numerous research conducted. After having a preview of the documentary, I had several questions on the subject namely, what is the major theme of Mr. Fuentes video? What is its genre? Who were the makers of the sculptures and monuments and what were their significance?
Step 4
The documentary, "The Conflict of the Gods, " Fuentes investigates the birth of what is today referred to as Hispanic America. It was filmed in Mexico and Spain. From her previous episodes, he presented Spain as a syncretism of Christian, Jew, and Moor. In this documentary, he uses facts fact of the Spanish invasion to presents their rich culture. In this episode, he presents the pre-Columbian New World using the Frescos of Diego Rivera and the statues and tombstones of ancient America in his visuals ("Conflict of the gods.mp4", 2018). He elucidates how the two heroic the two world views conflicted and dissolved together in a weird in a concoction of sex and language. For him, the Spain of the fifteen Century is very different from the toady’s Latin America. There is an intense mix of cultures in the society today, and Mr. Fuentes is shocked by the fact that it has no beneficial impact as it can only be associated with the increased unemployment, pollution and inflation among other problems in the current society ("Conflict of the gods.mp4", 2018). For him, Latin Americans can only legitimately celebrate on their cultural heritage depicted today on their art, music, and literature.
Step 5
The sound effects are quite fascinating linked to the background of the film. The images are clear and linked to the theme of the video. There is a good use of establishing shots showing the general view of the Spanish historical features offering important information and guiding the viewer. Additionally, they are the use of tracking shot is quite effective moving from one scene to another. The interviews are quite educative, and it was quite interesting to learn that bullfights and gypsies were signs of Hispanic Culture.
Step 6
The most interesting part of the documentary is an instance whereby Mr. Fuentes argues that Hispanic world makes a logical unit reducible to one cultural continuity. If another study were done, the assumption would be that all the English-Speaking namely the United States, Australia, Ireland, India, Canada, England and Jamaica among other states make one cultural unit ("Conflict of the gods.mp4", 2018). It is fascinating that Hispanic states are highly diverse from each other such that using a one name such as Latin America would be a sign of intellectual laziness that does not acknowledges their diversity ( Shumway, 1992).
