It has for long been assumed that God has a universal plan that was first revealed to the Israelites and then offered to the rest of the society through Jesus Christ. The Bible was later on written and subdivided into the Old and New Testaments. The two sections offer a common ground on the aspect of salvation and how it continues to be revealed. Despite the genuineness of what is available in both sections there exists some barriers in reference to the connection between the Old and New Testament.

One of the significant barriers pertains to the constant reference made on the Old Testament by the New Testament books. It is still a mystery who came up with the decision on which book would be placed in a particular section of the Bible. Secondly, the time between when the last book of the Old testament was written, Malachi to the establishment of Matthew acts as a barrier which affects one`s understanding of the Bible since up to 400 hundred years had lapsed (Kalimi, 2017). Also, no details pertaining of the intertestamental period are readily available in the bible. The apostasy acclaimed in the Old Testament also affects the connection between both sections since this impacted on people`s acceptance of Jesus Christ.

I believe that by understanding the connection between the testaments one can become a better reader since they can manage to connect events which began in the Old Testament to the New Testament. For instance, Jesus` coming was prophesied in the Old Testament before it occurred in the New Testament. Moreover, the intertestamental period which exists between both testaments provides some of the answers that a majority of Christians are seeking in order to understand the testaments. By understanding this connection, one is bound to be a better believer and one who does not relent on their faith.
