In the army the Commander Sergeant Major (CGM)/Sergeant Major (SGM) plays an essential role in the area of Army Design Methodology (ADM). For the military operations, they feature uncertainty and complexity while characterized by numerous risks that are innate to the organization. During the ADM process, therefore, the CSM/SGM need to focus on advancing the planning process while adopting a systems approach that fosters holistic thinking (Dagher, 2018) . They are responsible integrating the planning process by combining two distinct planning aspects, including conceptual and comprehensive to allow them to devise plans and orders that are possible to execute, which facilitate in modelling premeditated actions to allow the army realize strategic goals and objectives (Grome, Crandall, Wolters, & Rasmussen, 2012) . Here, the CSM/SGMs need to ensure that they establish a detailed comprehension pertaining to the present and future atmosphere of the army, recognize the key issues, devise an operational strategy, and guide the process. The detailed planning that they adopt makes possible to realize a complete and effective plan that can guides the army toward realizing victory in its operations. Furthermore, CSM/SGMs need to make sure that the ADM does not just target any issues, but focusing on addressing the appropriate problems while ensuring that the Army remains efficient in its operations.
For the ADM, it is significantly crucial to the operations process. The ADM facilitates in the establishment of detailed comprehension of the present operational setting while at the same time visualizing the one that would contribute to efficient and effective army operations (United States Army, 2015) . For the operations process, it is quite complex while it comprises of adaptive systems that feature differing tendencies, interconnectivity, anomalies, interests, and tensions. Additionally, the operations process comprises of internal and external inputs, which take advantage of the system to offer the capacity for surviving in line with yielding evolving behaviors. Here, the ADM become essential in that it provides commanders with the opportunity of instituting inquiry boundaries while at the same time facilitating in establishing mutual understanding in line with depicting reality prior to devising means of addressing existing problems (Command and General Staff School, 2013) . The ADM provides an avenue for assessing the environment to foster increased understanding of the operations process. Furthermore, the ADM is essential in terms of fostering the identification of any existing obstacles and discrepancies that hinder the realization of the needed goals. The methodology makes it possible to isolate the key courses of the numerous issues facing the army in line with fostering understanding regarding the interconnected dynamics, nodes, and interactions in the operations process. The reason for doing so entails the need for generating comprehension of operational environment to assist in solving problem in an effective manner (Grome, Crandall, Wolters, & Rasmussen, 2012) . Addressing the problems in a successful manner needs going past the typical means of dealing with problems to comprehending the interconnectivity and interrelationships that prevail within parts of the army system.

In my perspective, I have a unique viewpoint regarding my future CSM/SGM role in the ADM process. For instance, I have noted that the recent years have realized a major shift in way whereby it has changed from conventional to contemporary. The present operations mostly emphasize on counter-terrorism, counter-insurgency, and stabilization of countries. In this sense, the operations of the army have grown increasingly sophisticated mostly due to the various threats facing nations (Dagher, 2018) . In this sense, I perceive my future CSM/SGM’s role in ADM as one related to embarking on continuous assessments of the operational environment while considering the uniqueness of different nations as well as foreign troops’ requirement for institutionalizing (De Spiegeire, Wijninga, & Sweijs, 2016) . I will also focus adopting ways of comprehending uncertain problems and environments, particularly those threats facing the cyberspace and the probable means of realizing the future solutions to this growing threat.
