The clients in this case scenario happen to be Carol and Joseph. From the description presented in the case study, it is evident that Carol and Joseph are fighting numerous battles in their lives. Carol seems to be dealing with a lot of issues that are proving to have detrimental consequences on her young family with Joseph. Carol happens to be an unemployed young mother. She has a one-year-old child who she strives to provide for with her partner Joseph. However, the numerous challenges she faces may be leading her to indulge in drug use and high alcohol intake which may not be advisable given her responsibilities as a mother. Her alcohol addiction may be a genetic issue and her mother affirms this fact by stating that Carol’s father and grandfather were alcoholics (Plummer, Makris & Brocksen, 2014). Carol’s alcoholic issue recently had her involved in a serious car accident with the baby on board. After this occurrence, she was advised to take part in intensive inpatient substance abuse treatment where she obliged but refused to cooperate with the practitioners. However, after her referral to an outpatient program, she began showing cooperation despite her initial reluctance. Her cooperation has been vital in presenting vital information about carol, her strengths, and weaknesses.
On the other hand, Joseph also seems to have issues of his own. For instance, his recent arrest and the discovery of drugs and weapons in their house, especially the fact that some were stored in the baby’s crib, do not paint a good picture for both the parents. However, they seem to be well-bonded with their child and give her good care as shown by the baby’s development progress. Despite losing his job due to the drug-related case, Joseph shows significant efforts to keep his family together. He has a new job and is investing time to create a support system for the wife even though he does not have the support of his family (Plummer, Makris & Brocksen, 2014). This is mainly because his father happens to be traveling a lot and his mother passed away prematurely. In spite of these issues, Joseph knows the importance of family and is determined to ensure that they remain intact. He even plans to join a community college and further his education to ensure that he provides for his wife and daughter.
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
From their case, it is obvious that both Carol and Joseph are willing to invest time and effort to better their current situation. It is admirable to see that despite their shortcomings, they are willing to work to ensure they improve. To help them change their current situation, I would need to know what they plan to do to make sure they never find themselves in this situation again. The information they provide will be crucial in discerning whether they plan to completely change or their actions are a temporary show for the authorities monitoring them. I would further need to know the steps that they are planning to take to ensure that their child grows in a decent home environment that is devoid of weapons, alcohol, and drugs.
