Introduction

Culture refers to the customs and beliefs that can be used to identify a specific group of people leaving in a particular region. These norms are deferent from one group to another, and they are endorsed by the owners. Values are the traditions that a specific group of people believes that they are right and fair to each member of the society. Therefore, cultural values are the commonly held guidelines that are followed by the members of the community and are acceptable in that society. Thus, this paper seeks to relate the two images of children drawn from the New York Times article and relate them to the cultural values of their community.

Cultural values include the mode of dressing, types of food consumed by the society and the language. They vary from one community to another. For instance, in the New York Times article above, the school dress code does not allow boys to wear skirts or dresses in the school. Additionally, girls are not allowed to wear mini-skirts and high heeled shoes. On the other hand, it's my opinion that if the dress has the acceptable length, the girls should be allowed to wear them.

The View about the image above in Connection to My Faith and the Cultural Values

According to my religious background, women are not supposed to have long hairs as those depicted by the images above. Such behavior is regarded as disrespect to God. Contrarily, both boys and girls in my community are expected to keep their head covered to uphold their respect in the society. Subsequently, this is extended even to the schools which I think is not healthy for learners to have long hair and cover them. This provides an unconducive environment for such learner to concentrate well.

As depicted in the image above, Hindus believe some animals are sacred and are banned from being eaten. Such belief is highly shunned in my community. My religion disregards such actions since it is viewed as a typical form of idolatry.

Positive Resources for Understanding Children from the Worlds of Psychology and Christia n ity

One node for understanding children from both the world of psychology and Christianity is their behavioral characteristics. Typically, children nurtured from the world of psychology behave differently from those nursed from a religious perspective. In contrast to the general positive psychology, Christian positive psychology prioritizes God first rather than the scientific concepts relayed in the scientific world.

In conclusion, cultural values are so essential to the society because they encourage moral values. Although they hinder moral decay, these values should be acceptable in the community as well leaving room for the adjustments. Besides, should be viewed from both the world of psychology and Christianity to understand their inner selves.
