In the modern world dominated by technology, cyberbullying has become a common phenomenon. Cyberbullying refers to the use of technology such as messages and other media with the primary intention of causing harm. Cyberbullying can take several forms. The detrimental impacts of cyberbullying have not spared the children in middle schools (Florang, 2020) . In the efforts of mitigating the impacts of cyberbullying in middle schools and other learning institutions, schools deploy a counsellor to solve issues emerging from acts of cyberbullying.
As a school counsellor in a middle school, I would assume several roles. One of the roles is counselling the middle school learners the dangers of cyberbullying and discouraging them from engaging in cyberbullying. I would ensure that all the cases related to cyberbullying are well discussed with the learner. The learner should be given a free environment to speak out their mind in an open manner. Cuber bully perpetrators can conceal their identity from the fear of being exposed (Paolini, 2018) . There is a need to identify the cyberbullying victims and perpetrators. There is a need to partner with other technical staff to ensure that perpetrators are identified right. The parents can also play a significant role in revealing the identity of the cyberbully perpetrators. It would be my role as a school counsellor to ensure that cyber bully-victims are offered assistance in the cases disciplinary action is not appropriate.

A school counsellor will ensure that both the victims and the perpetrators are assisted in coping with cyberbullying. Offering advice on learners on how to stop activities that lead to cyberbullying is a critical role of school counsellors. Some of the strategies deployed to prevent cyberbullying could include sending messages directly. As a school counsellor, I would advise parents and students to terminate accounts receiving cyberbullying or serving as the source of the bully (Tinstman et al., 2020) . Learners also need to be educated on the importance of using filter features and blocking on technology devices to keep off cyberbully perpetrators. There are several risks involved; cyberbullying has a significant impact on the mental wellbeing of victims as well as perpetrators. Some learners, both victims and perpetrators, can turn violent during the process of counselling. Victims may also commit suicide and decline to heed counselling advice.
