Data refers to information collected with an objective to make significant conclusions based on information communicated by the data. The way the data is collected recorded and stored is crucial to its utilization. Data to be used in research or applied in economic and social phenomena must be reliable. Reliable data must be accurate or have a high accuracy rate. Data can be recorded in numerals or text, a symbol used must be compatible with objectives. Storage of data is important because of security and accessibility. Data collected and recorded must meet the qualities of information required based on data. Security and accessibility must be enhanced to enhance retrieval and utilization (Madsen, 2013).

What is the difference between how data is captured and how data is managed in healthcare?

Healthcare data refers to information which has been gathered internally or from outside and facilitate the provision of health services to patient and community. Data capturing refers to a process used to convert raw data to electronic format while data management refers to control measures effected on accessibility and utilization of data. Captured data is securely stored and retrieved when needed. Healthcare data is only accessible to legally qualified people when needed since confidentiality must always be maintained (Furtell, 2013).

Provide an example of a data capture process and explain how the example helps ensure quality data is gathered

Methods used to capture data include; manual input, optical and optical character recognition, voice recognition, card input, and magnetic ink color recognition. A good example is optical method. In optical methods, textual data is retrieved (encoded) from the stored format. Data stored in the form of code has characters linked to specified alpha-numeric value. Using special gadgets codes are translated useful information to the user. Data capturing aims at enhancing storage, minimizing cost while maximizing utilization (Furtell, 2013).

Provide an example of a data management process and explain how the example helps ensure an organization has quality data.

Data can be stored in the form of descriptive tables, codes, and charts among other forms. One of the common and widely used methods to store client information is assigning them unique code and giving clients digital cards (Indexing). Indexing is reliable for national health programs like Medicare which have a large volume of data and each beneficiary must be identified accurately. Indexing minimization confusion and errors that would arise from multiple identities. Cards issue have barcodes and client number which facilitate access and retrieval of information when required (Madsen, 2013).
