My journey through the course has been very informative about how a good literature review and a dissertation can be written. The invention of empirical research and writing was a significant breakthrough in terms of making knowledge generation cumulative, systematic, and cross-cultural. However, most research projects do very little to expound on what is known to in the world of literacy. This provocation is what has guided me to think about how I am going to schedule to develop my literature review while identifying any gaps and filling them to ensure that I come up with an apt dissertation.
Moving forward, I will incline efforts in my dissertation toward making my research work cumulative by selecting my papers accordingly and narrowing down to the topic of discussion. This should be the prerequisite of coming up with a good literature review. I will then conduct my search for literary sources from databases and reliable libraries. After finding my sources of preference, I will go ahead to read thoroughly through them and make sure that I understand them so that I can make an informed evaluation of my materials. I must develop subtopics from these sources and arrange the papers based on whatever pattern that shall be most conspicuous.

There are rare occasions when breakthrough research shall occur, and this outcome makes most dissertations far from perfect. Whatever causes the hitch is the many gaps within most research projects that are overlooked. How will I uncover the gaps in my literature review? Identifying a research gap may be overwhelming because of the bulky content that one has to go through, but strategizing on the same is very critical. I will identify my vital motivating questions and issues before I start reading through scholarly articles and other research works. As the adage goes, a sharp pen is better than a sharp mind; thus, I will keep a list of notes that entail inconsistent and biased information. Besides, I will track comments written by authors like, “leads for future assessment or research” because this is an undoubted lead toward where a gap may exist in research.
I believe that my strategy if followed to the latter, will help me compose a top-notch and reputable dissertation.
