Early maturation has vast consequences on boys and girls in adolescence as well as, other stages of life. To begin with, the boys and girls may experience stunted growth given that their puberty would end earlier before they are fully grown. The other consequences of early maturation for girls and boys is increased rates of depression, anxiety, and behavior changes. The depression and anxiety could mainly be brought by the fact that these boys and girls realize they are different; thus, they are filled with nervousness and despair. Consequently, the boys and girls suffer from low self-esteem and body image which can impact them into their adulthood. There is also a possibility of early substance abuse by boys and girls with early maturation as an approach to overcome their situations. These boys and girls also engage in earlier sexual activity that leads to teenage pregnancies as well as, affliction with sexually transmitted infections, which could have long-lasting effects on their lives. Finally, the boys and girls also have poor academic outcomes because of the consequences of early maturation, and this can affect their future lives.

Marital satisfaction changes over time because of the different aspects that occur after marriage. In the beginning, the newlyweds report high marital satisfaction given that love and intimacy are at their highest in the first years of marriage. However, over time couples start feeling the friction of life realities when other responsibilities such as parenthood and work-related stress start trickling into their lives. The couples also realize that their spouses might not be perfect and have various shortcomings, which might lead to their dislike, thus affecting satisfaction. At this point, couples report reduced marital satisfaction which can lead to divorce in the worst-case scenarios. Researchers depict that couple interaction, past experiences, and personality traits of couples can greatly affect marital satisfaction. Conversely, couples that have excellent communication and interaction can be able to avoid conflicts when faced by vulnerabilities even though the compromised spouse might still experience reduced marital satisfaction. It is, therefore, normal for couples to experience reduced marital satisfaction over time because of the complexities of different stages of life and the realities that were not foreseeable during dating and the early years of marriage.
