Still, it had prompted a renewed wave of oppressive legislation that prohibited not only people’s education but also their freedom of movement and assembly. Subsequently, a majority of slaves who had acquired literacy managed to form civil rights movements. However, according to King James Bible (2008), Ephesians 6:5-8, “Slaves should be obedient to their master with fear and trembling, in the sincerity of heart, as to Christ.” Subsequently, the slaves should be treated justly and fairly, with masters bearing in mind that they have a Master in paradise.
