Dysfunctional parenting behavior occurs when parents continuously engage in adverse behavior against their children such that it becomes norm (Wolfe & McIsaac, 2011). Examples of adverse parenting behavior include conflict, violence, unreasonable limitations, threats, encouraging children to develop adverse behavior, hostile rejection, lack of emotional response and child neglect. The survey seeks to obtain respondents’ views on the behavior exhibited by their parents during their upbringing. The focus is on empathy, use of violence/threats, unreasonable limitations, and lack of emotional response. Since dysfunctional parenting has adverse effects on children’s mental health. The survey also seeks to evaluate the impact of parenting on the respondents’ mental health by evaluating the level of stress in current life, social behavior and self-esteem.
