1. The rates of obesity are continuing to rise in this country. Discuss how nutrition, sleep, growth rates, and exercise all interact to promote healthy living. How can parents help to promote healthy habits in childhood? How will these habits impact overall wellness in adulthood?

Every healthy lifestyle plan requires diet and exercise as the primary pillars to improve on results (Strieter, Laddu, Sainsbury, & Arena, 2019). Obesity remains a rising concerns because of infrequency in feeding times, snacking between meals, irregular work out schedules, and skipping meals. Keeping a nutrition and exercise regular interval ensures that an individual reaches their weight loss goals while maintaining proper energy and blood sugar levels. Children significantly learn through observation at home and therefore, parents should maintain a consistent holistic approach when it comes to nutrition and exercise (Strieter et al., 2019) . As primary care givers they should take meals at the same time with their children and encourage them to embrace the benefits of fruits and vegetables. Showing positive attitudes towards healthy meals creates the foundation for developing healthy, high-achieving, and well adjusted adults. Cooking together with the child also makes the process educational and influence the preference of home cooked meals rather than take-out which mostly incorporate unhealthy diets.

2. Summarize the similarities and differences in the physical, cognitive, and socio-emotional development between preschool and elementary-aged children. Include an explanation of brain development and changes that are taking place in childhood. Why is it important to recognize the changes that take place in each stage of development?

In the cognitive sense both preschool and elementary aged children shed their egocentric perspective and begin to gain an understanding of the social nature life ( Hajal, Paley, Delja, Gorospe, & Mogil, 2019). The child expresses their likes and dislikes to signify their socio-emotional development. However, preschool staged child acquires motor ability and walking grows their capacity of self expression in defining physical space. On the other hand, elementary school aged children recognize the existence of others with unique needs thereby leading to the development of psychosocial skills (Hajal et al., 2019). Therefore, it is important for primary caregivers to take note of the changes taki8ng place in the child's development because successful transitioning of the cognitive, physical, and socio-emotional milestones have significant ramifications on their psychosocial and intellectual achievements. Parents should guide their children to acquire self sufficiency by letting them figure life but also step in when things get too difficult for the child.
