The concepts of ancient philosophers have a positive impact on the entire organization; therefore educating employees on such philosophical ideas is critical. In western philosophy, it easy to note that ideologies of Plato and Aristotle can be strategically applied in managing businesses. Both philosophers share the same concerns of building a loyal, productive and instilling ethics among employees for successful outcomes. Surprisingly, in the analysis of both philosophers, the talk is not much about either the employees or the companies; instead, their focus was on inspiring citizens to generate a state that flourishes. However, such concerns address how to foster ethics in decision making, loyalty as well as productivity within a business environment.
If an individual perceives ethics as rules that people are not supposed to go against, then the person is entirely wrong. Unfortunately, many people relate the idea of ethics with prohibition or measures that integrate specific codes of conduct. Aristotle and Plato understand ethics as creating a conducive setting that can foster prosperity among individuals as well as the entire community. For them, ethics can be well related to constant productivity and loyalty within an organization. In summary of both the philosophers, for instance, if a company wants to achieve ethics, commitment and productivity in the work setting; it becomes a mandate for the company to cultivate on factors such as truth, generating creative approaches to express goodwill and creating an environment that favours “ we-self.” Reflecting on the findings of both the philosophers, their main point of the argument is based on the fact that certain issues such as legal compliance can well take and handle themselves on their own. This means that if an organization cultivates on the mentioned factors, then the employees will have increased productivity, loyalty as well as a boost on their morale at the work setting.
