Educational philosophies and theories are perpetually linked. Educational philosophies influence how students perceive the world and theories shape how they intentionally interact with the world (Noodings, 2018). Educational philosophies are engrained in educational theory such that they guide they guide the decisions taken on the effective approaches taken in academic advising encounters. The philosophies of education impact the meanings of significant problems and the theory provides useful strategies to help reach solutions to the problems.

A good example of how the philosophies of education are connected to the theory of education is when a teacher engages a student in a reflective conversation about dropping a course. The teacher is probably informed by educational theory in which students need to be supported and prompted into decision making for them to make their educational experience meaningful (O'Connor, 2016) . Therefore, through the philosophy, teachers ought to promote the abilities of students. Academic advising plays an important role in meeting the students’ outcomes and relevant theories can be drawn from to react and interpret to the solution (Mead, Biesta & Trohler, 2015) . This can be achieved by providing teachers with an opportunity to interact with learners in different ways that will enable them learn, grown and achieve their dreams (Winch, Oancea & Orchard, 2015) . Through the educational philosophies, a lot will be accomplished by employing different philosophical approaches. If all the approaches are employed students will be able to learn from their experiences, experimentation, teachers’ engagement, and through the curriculum. By clarifying the languages of theory and philosophy, teachers will be able to participate in significant conversations with the students, learn their experiences and help them achieve their goals step by step.

The philosophies and theories of education are critical in clarifying student academic progress and their professionalism. Teaching the theories and philosophies of education in schools is crucial to enable teachers evaluate the student’s perspective . Besides understanding the particular behaviors of students, educators will be able to know how learners perceive their own actions. This will help teachers adapt to more effective teaching practices, guidance and strategies which help improve students’ performances. The link between philosophies and theories of education are thus important in providing a better upbringing for students to enable them cope with problems in their later years of life.
