The aim of my research is examining the effect of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) among war veterans and military retirees. Many authors assert that during a war, many veterans get exposure to conditions, which makes them vulnerable to PTSD. Therefore, psychologists should understand the impact of stressors on veterans after their retirement is critical in finding an intervention or a strategy to help them manage their PTSD conditions. Through my research proposal and my career as a psychologist, my objective is to bring to light the impact of PTSD on the retired veterans. According to Horwitz et al. (2018) , nearly 17% of soldiers who come from war alive experience symptoms of PTSD. Lande (2019) asserts that out of ten soldiers who make it alive from the war, six of them must experience PTSD symptoms. It implies that there is a need to develop strategies that can help reduce the PTSD among the soldiers ( Mehta et al., 2018). In my view, the problem lies in the lack of research to understand the implications of the PTSD among individual veterans. My goal as stipulated in my research proposal is to try and make people understand the effects of PTSD among the retired soldiers.

As a psychologist, I understand that there is a need to understand doping researching how the PTSD manifest and affect the retired soldiers. PTSD is a psychological matter. It implies that PTSD symptoms manifest through behaviours such as stress, anxiety, aggression, and depression in the victim ( MacLean et al., 2018). It would be effortless to reduce the PTSD among the retired soldiers without psychologically understanding its impact and how it manifests. Researching and finding evidence on how the retired soldiers are affected by the PTSD is thus critical in the psychological field since it is a step towards finding a proper solution to help the retired soldiers live a healthy life.
