ACO has played a leading role in lowering the cost of healthcare to millions of American people through the provision of promising solutions that allows people to access healthcare at affordable costs. Through its involvement, ACO has successfully achieved several promising results about lowering the cost of healthcare and providing the patients with improved experiences. According to McGinnis and Houston (2016), ACO has enabled the American healthcare industry to focus on value-based healthcare as opposed to motives driven by profitability through huge volume of patients. The value-based payment method makes healthcare organizations under the care of ACO to put more emphasis on the wellbeing and positive outcome of the patient, resulting in provision of improved and quality healthcare outcomes for the American people (to McGinnis & Houston, 2016).

As well, Berenson and Devers (2012), ACO has played a critical role in ensuring that patients access quality healthcare by working with the patients to determine the most suitable healthcare institution. In collaboration with the patients, ACO allows the patients to choose an institutional of their choice, both in patient healthcare services and ambulatory healthcare services. ACO has also managed to increase the rate of physician involvement across the healthcare facilities in the United States and thus contributing to improved healthcare experience for the patients. More importantly, the healthcare data collected by ACO has resulted in provision of improved and quality healthcare through formulation of healthcare policies aimed at lowering the cost of healthcare while at the same time maintaining the quality of the services provided (Barnes et al., 2014).
