Emerging adulthood is described as the period between the ages of 18 years that extends to the ages of 25 years. The age and stage of life experience mostly the transition and preparation that young adult has of leaving their parents houses and homes and probably starting their homes and houses to mean independence in decisions and liberalization regarding decisions made either in the economic, social or political aspects. In the contemporary times, the concept of globalization as well as technological developments has allowed ease access of information through technological advancements that many youths not only from the noted countries have actively get involved but also the entire world (Sneed, Hamagami, McArdle, Cohen & Chen, 2007). It has, thus, shaped and determined the global culture that many youths in the emerging adulthood have displayed and shown across the globe. Many emerging adulthood in the India, China, and the USA have access to technology supported gadgets and have access to higher level education as well as job and career opportunities among other aspects that emerging adult across the globe desire or aspire to have at that age.
The emerging youths in the countries of India, China, and the USA have developed a common or similar culture of higher education in the post-secondary education sector. A majority of such youths in the noted countries have engaged themselves in the development and building foundation in the careers that they desire and aspire to have in their lives. Most of them also have interest and knowledge related to technology that has formed part of the contemporary global culture. A larger percentage subscribe, for instance, to social media devices that are supported by technological gadgets such as Facebook , Instagram , and WhatsUp among many others that exist in the different countries that have made the use of such devices as part of their lifestyles and culture. Some have also used the technological supported gadgets and devices to enhance their education careers and culture that is common among the emerging adults in the noted three countries (Yeung, Alipio, Furstenberg & American Academy of Political and Social Science, 2013). Moreover, the emerging adults in the noted cultures also have embraced a common culture regarding fashion and, hence, most of the attires that the noted youths have presented similar attribute regarding design and styles. Most of them aspired by leading common personalities such as celebrities among others in the society that are role models for most of the emerging adults in the noted countries. The emerging adults, thus, in the three noted countries express similar cultural aspects that determine most of the decisions they make in life that has mostly been influenced by the present reality and development in technology. It has made the communication and socialization experience traverse beyond the boundaries of the individual countries to the entire world at the touch of a button an experience that most parents of the emerging adulthood never had at their time making the culture experienced presently slightly different from those experienced by the parents of the emerging adulthood.
The emerging adulthood in the noted countries and the world at large more often experience conflicts with parents or adults that are close to them. Most of the conflicts result from the transition difficulties that most parents have about their children and the reality that such young adults have the potential to make firm and sound decisions about the steps that they make (Booth, 2012). Most of the young adults at their age explore many issues including the issues that they were afraid of to do in their early adolescent stages as a result of parents advice and presence that denied most of them freedom. Most parents live in denial about differences and perceive the emerging adults as babies and children that are not able to make sound and firm decisions in life. On the contrary, most of the emerging adults feel that they have enough exposure, knowledge, and experience in life to make sound decisions about the steps and issues that they make in life. The resulting outcome is conflict experienced by most emerging adults and their parents or guardians. Most parents also relate the experiences that they had at their time when they were at the emerging adulthood age and stage and thought that their children would experience the same and in particular the negative experiences and exposure that such parents had at their times (Yeung et al., 2013). They forget that the situation and the present environment has changed. However, it is understandable when such decisions are made noting that as many say that experience is the best teacher and, hence, parents have their natural responsibility to protect their young ones and generations. The increased conflicts between parents and emerging adulthood have made many psychologists, and social workers try to venture in parenting and family-related studies and profession to help families avoid such conflicts as well as try to educate parents on the possible parenting styles that can reduce or eliminate conflicts between parents and children as noted above. The conflicts have emerged from the different interpretation of the world and immediate environment and, hence, are mostly philosophical and ideological.
Emerging adulthood from the noted countries also experiences exploration in many issues in life that touch on the economic, social as well as political decisions that they make (Sneed et al., 2007). For example, much-emerging adulthoods that have graduated and completed various studies mostly launch their careers and get employment and their first jobs at the stage. It presents them with an opportunity to make decisions related to economic aspects as they have a source of income and, hence, they start planning and projecting about their future and adulthood life that has proved full of responsibilities. The exploration that such emerging adulthood has and the freedom that comes at the stage has also presented other negative behaviors and actions such as introduction to drugs and alcoholism among some young emerging adulthood. The stage and age experience peer pressure that most find themselves conforming to the demands of their peers when they have made a compromising decision that proves dangerous and regrettable in later life and adulthood (Nelson & Chen, 2007). For example, when such actions become addictive and continue to full adulthood. Many people have lost careers and opportunities in life as a result of chronic diseases related to substance abuse and alcoholism, for instance, that they started at the emerging adulthood times. The exploration experienced by such emerging adulthood youths has also been noted in the social aspects such as family and related outcomes. Most of the youths also have married at the noted stage in life and, thus, explore and experience their first parenting responsibility and roles. They explore the best alternatives learning on a daily basis about newer issues in life and experiences such as parenting and first-time parents. The experience and helpful that they learn to help them overcome future similar incidences such as the way the young parents treat and handle other children in the family setup that they get later as full adults. Research has noted that the experience and parenting styles that most children get while young in the earlier stages of life determines to a large extent the avenue and path that emerging adulthood takes regarding exploration. Consultants and professionals, therefore, in the family and parenting lifestyles have, thus, prepared parents in the various outcomes at the stage creating an environment in the parenting style that can increase the chances of exploring issues in the positive direction in life.
In conclusion, emerging adulthood youths in India, China, and the USA have indicated similar experience realized that touch on culture, conflicts with parents as well as an exploration that they take in life. Technological advancements have played and contributed greatly in forming of the global culture among the youths that in the contemporary times determines and influences many issues that youths experience in all the sectors of life. Parents are encouraged to research and consult the best parenting styles that they can have that would increase the chances of their children when they reach the emerging adulthood stage to make bold decisions that can increase the chances of succeeding in life as full adults in all aspects.
