Case Study A describes Separation Anxiety Disorder. Four year old Charlie exhibits the typical characteristics of this disorder. He displays symptoms such as expressing undue distress when he needs to be removed from the home. Charlie is equally distressed when he anticipates separation from his mother. Silove et al (2015) argue that the symptoms are concurrent with the separation anxiety disorder. This diagnosis can be followed up over a period of time because the symptoms are also synonymous with early childhood development. This diagnosis is more applicable when the symptoms are recurrent in older patients. It is often caused by a traumatic event such as divorce of primary care givers or death of a loved one. Silove et al (2015) further add that caregivers who over protect a child or those who are particularly intrusive may lead to such a mental state. Charlie may have developed this condition from his spending too much time under the care of his mother.

Case Study C describes Major Depressive disorder. This condition is characterised by prolonged sadness and feelings of hopelessness. Sindhu also displays other symptoms such as an inability to carry out every day tasks that were previously routine. She has begun to struggle with her studies and her grades have declined as a result. Sindhu's emotional outbursts and recurrent periods of crying also act as symptoms of Depressive disorder. According to Otte (2016), the lethargy and darkness demonstrated in the art work shows the suicidal tendencies that are one of the advanced stages of depression. It is caused by a combination of stress, genetic composition and emotional turmoil. Some predisposing factors such as drug or alcohol abuse may predispose this disorder. Sindhu's lack of motivation and persistent sadness may have developed because of the stress from the countrywide gifted and talented artists class. This case also illustrates this criteria in Sindhu's response to Germany challenges.
