In the leadership positions of business organizations, the 21st century skills and command for the basic relevant competencies are not enough. A leader is expected to have in custody the elements of emotional intelligence, amicably understand the work-life integration and be conversant with role identity. This essay entails a comprehensive reflection on the key issues affecting the efficiency of workflow in the work environment as a result of the influence of emotional intelligence, role identity, and work-life integration.
Emotional intelligence is seen as a phenomenon which will have a greater influence on human capital and the general output not only of the management and leadership but on the organizational setting as a whole. People with emotional intelligence are perceived to be in control of their own emotions and feelings. The emotionally intelligent people have attributes such as self-awareness which entails the ability to understand and control their moods. In addition, they have self-regulation capabilities. Importantly, the emotional intelligent people are self-driven as they have the internal motivation for their own personal success (Chignell, 2018). It is confirmed that emotionally intelligent employees have greater chances of going further in their career than their counterparts without such attributes. The reason behind this state of affair is that most managers prefer emotional intelligence to intelligence quotient. Reflecting on my case, I have discovered that I have developed some attributes linked to emotional intelligence. As opposed to my earlier relations with people, I have discovered that currently, I take conversations with calm. Most of the time I utilize my internal motivation to overcome most of the work challenges. Added to this, I have interacted with most of my colleagues who have commended me on how I handle people with a sense of humility and etiquette.

Work-life integration refers to the coordination of personal life with the employment duties in an efficient manner and promotes efficiency in both cases. Bearing in mind that people are not independent and that they must be involved in other people’s activities to achieve results, it becomes important that one defines their roles in a detailed manner with less prejudice to any element of life. The concept behind total leadership is to create a model known as four-way wins which entail better results in all environments that people might find themselves in. It is aimed at achieving a result at home, within the workplace and the community as a whole (Stern Speakers, 2016). Work-life integration is essential in that it promotes productivity. Spending some time with family members and friends is vital in contributing to the refreshment and mind efficiency. Also, work-life integration is essential as it reduces the long term exhaustion and improves interest in work. Further, the idea of work-life integration is essential for the avoidance of frustrations and burnout. At the current state, I am capable of evaluating my work life integration. As it stands, I pick my friends from different work organization for lunch together. In some cases, I reply to some work emails from my bed. I have realized that this is refreshing and promotes my communication skills.
Role identity also known as social identity involves having a sense of who a person is in regard to the membership group they may find themselves in. It is learned that the social groups one might find themselves in are play an important role in their entire wellbeing as compared to their workplace environment. As per the theory, it is realized that people tend to divide social life into two contrasting groups. In essence, people would like to be in a situation of “them against us” (McLeod, 2008). With this categorization, people develop identity from within themselves which in some cases come as a result of negativities. Role identity becomes more important in the workplace as it creates a sense of responsibility. In order to promote the human capital in a given organization, it is essential that the people are specialized and aware of their roles in given departments of the workplaces.
Conclusion
It can be summarized that with the role identity, it becomes easier for the management to delegate work and to supervise with preciseness. It is important that leadership is marked by emotional intelligence elements as it will promote conflict resolutions and enhance good relations. Added work self-integration, an individual employee can give an excellent output in the workplace. Therefore, these aspects should be inculcated in employees.
