Epidemiology is research that is usually carried out on a given population to determine factors that may be affecting them, in our case, it is applied to assess health issues affecting that community, and how they can be prevented and controlled. Epidemiology is used to access the health status of a given population in an area. Epidemiologists try to establish; the actual and potential health problems that may affect that given population, what society is at risk, what health problems may have increased or decreased over time, and which category of the community is concerned. They may view the composition of the pupation and the economic status of a given population to carry out their research. epidemiologist information resulting from the study is used by health authorities to plan for the Medicare of that society (Bonita, Beaglehole, Kjellstrom, 2006). Secondly, epidemiology may be used to study the history of the health of the people. Trends from the past regarding the health of that community can be determined, which may include past diseases that may have affected that population. Epidemiologists use that information to seek whether such conditions have successfully been controlled. Future trends are used to predict the rise of health issues that may arise in a given population by the epidemiologist. They then use this information to come up with programs to help curb what may result in the future (Morris,1975). Epidemiology is used to study the causes of diseases. During an outbreak of a disease healthcare providers work in close association with epidemiologists to help out. The epidemiologists give the health care providers information concerning the disease, how it is controlled and to what extent it has affected that given population. With the changing social patterns, there are various health problems related to this, which may be caused by environmental or our social lifestyles. Epidemiologists, establish these health problems and advice accordingly on how to control them and come up with programs to curb the health issues (Evans,1978).
