What is the ethical decision-making model you implemented?

I implemented the character-based decision-making model. The reason for choosing it is because all decisions should consider the effect on all participants. The model is similar to the utilitarian approach, which strives for doing good to all, and expectantly avoid instigating harm to others. This model prioritizes ethics instead of values, that seem non-ethical (Oliveira, 2007). The decision implemented through this model aids in keeping the employees’ best interests at heart.

What are other possible actions you may have chosen or taken?

I would have alternatively chosen the minority rule decision model where the authority has an ultimate say over judgment and may or may not contemplate the involvement of other members of the group. Also, I may have chosen consensus rule, which is the technique in which the entire members involved must settle on a common decision. The consensus model normally contributes to high-quality verdicts because of the efforts and time it takes for everyone to agree.

What are the pros and cons of the decisions you have made (to not to report to the officials)?

The pros are that it is acceptable to infringe on another ethical norm if it progresses a healthier ethical environment for others. The front-runners might find themselves in the undesirable situation of giving priority to unethical decisions. As a leader, one has to pick between challenging ethical decisions, and one has to choose what possibly forms the most good for the majority of people. If a larger number of greater quality options are created, then the group may ultimately realize a greater problem solution than the individual ( Oliveira, 2007). On the cons side, it is time-consuming, meaning that a decision might be okay but not ideal. Through this decision, it is difficult to solve an individual conflict and accomplish an idea as ideas are deliberated.

4. Would you make a different decision if you could go back? If so, what would that be?

Yes. I would employ consensus rule in which every group member must agree on the same decision. The decision through this can be best for every party involved, which might contribute to a common agreement without extra discussion and debate.

5. How would you handle your relationship with Austin and other staff counselors?

I would handle my relationship with Austin and other staff counselors in a way that embraces honesty, rationality, and justice henceforth. My choice is informed by the fact that the foundation for the difference appears to be the fact that teams act more jointly and realize greater concerted effort.
