Bullying in learning institutions has become a prevalent antisocial behavior that affects a significant number of students. I would like to conduct a study to evaluate the causes of bullying in schools and also examine measures that can be taken to mitigate the vice. The participants in my research will be adolescents of ages between 11 and 15 years. This is the age bracket in which the adolescents are either perpetrators or victims of bullying (Blake, & Louw, 2010). My study will target male participants in several learning institutions in Minnesota State in the United States. The adolescents can be from any cultural origin or socioeconomic level.

Several ethical guidelines should be applied when conducting psychological research. Informed consent for participation is an important guideline that I would use in the course of my study. The Ethics Codes Principle E demands respect for people's rights and dignity (Fisher, & Vacanti-Shova, 2012). The researchers must ensure that their participants are well informed to make voluntary and rational decisions. My participants are adolescents, and according to the law and ethics, they lack consent capacity. It would, therefore, be essential to acquire guardian permission to involve the adolescents in my research (Fisher, & Vacanti-Shova, 2012). This would ensure that I do not violate their rights or break the law in the course of my study.

My study would have a significant positive impact on social change. First, the research will help to identify the root cause of bullying in learning institutions. Once the problem is identified, effective measures can then be used to curb the vice in schools across the schools. The participants who were able to overcome bullying can also give insights on practical ways through which the vice can be eradicated. This can promote healthy social development among adolescents and can also help deal with the social issues that trigger this antisocial behavior.
