In recent years, the world has been experiencing rapid technological advancements and globalization, making the world a small global village. Many organizations have become accessible regardless of their geographical location, leading a competition stream between organizations and employees (Beckett, 2017). To gain a competitive edge, organizations have become a champion of good leadership as it determines an organizations success and establishes trust between organizations and society. Ethics and values determine a leader's success through the process of running an organization. In leadership, ethics entail behavioral rules that guide how an individual should behave when dealing with different operations of a firm, while values are guides that are globally believed in on judgment or actions taken when dealing with different situations. The importance of ethical leadership has vastly developed, making it an essential value that employers look for during the recruitment of employees and execution of duties assigned. Leaders play a significant role in displaying good values and ethics that should be emulated, leading to leadership development amongst employees. This paper focuses on various leadership values to determine their modern leadership development application. 

Leadership Ethics and Values 

How leaders conduct themselves in a workplace sets a certain attitude amongst employees. Ethical of a good leader include; mutual respect, fairness, effective communication, integrity, and professionalism (Chowdhury, 2018). A good leader should display traits such as self-respect, responsibility, inner harmony, self-control, responsibility, and mature love (Anderson, 2016). Each society from different parts of the world has the behaviors it regards as ethical. Therefore, ethical leaders have to familiarize themselves with long-term opportunities, implications, and constraints within the organizations of their choices. Understanding the ideas, beliefs, rules, ethics, and expectations of the organization is critical as it guides a leader on how best to practice leadership while considering every stakeholder. The leader's mission in an organization is to steer employees' efforts or the people he/she leads through a display of high standards of values and ethics towards achieving the expected goals. These ethics are displayed using different techniques depending on the people a leader is guiding and the products or services an organization produces. Leaders should portray the highest standards of values and ethics in educational institutions since it involves preparing the future generation.

Roles of Leadership Ethics in Leadership Development and Application in an Educational Institution 

Leadership development is a critical task that leaders have since the leaders of the future need, especially in educational institutions. First, truthfulness in every aspect of leadership in an organization is crucial. Olson notes that honesty is one of the most important traits that people can emulate despite people's status or origin. With genuine, honest, and employees with integrity will create efficiency in mission accomplishment. In an education setting, the highest in power, which is the principal, should always be honest to students and staff members. This creates an honest working environment within the teachers, workers, and students, thus stimulating positive leadership development. Students will understand that being honest helps attain set objectives, a culture they will carry along even after graduating and getting employment. A good leader should be considerate regardless of an individual's position in an organization. This creates an attitude of mutual respect between leaders and employees. Appreciation of work well done or giving ideas instead of criticizing is crucial. When a teacher appreciates a student who has performed well and encourages those who've not performed, getting to the root cause of failure encourages students to perform better. The students will have developed a leadership principle applicable in a place of work in the future. A learning institution's culture encourages a particular behavior that leads to leadership development. 

The society around education acknowledges rational conduct as an excellent ethical trait leaders should possess. A leader who champions justice, equity, and dignity leadership is most successful (Chowdhury, 2018). It is a leader’s responsibility to handle subordinates with reasonability. Leaders should be fair in every judgment they make across all firm levels. When leadership is rational, subordinates will want to emulate their superior traits, leading to leadership development. However, a subordinate must be willing to learn and accept corrections. When a professor puts a reasonable pass mark for an exam and gives equal punishment to every student, that doesn't achieve installs a fairness trait in them. Students become champions of equity. Education institution leaders should treat every student with dignity and equity regardless of their social status, race, intellectual abilities, or color ( McCleskey, 2014) . A society of fair and rational leaders is developed at this level. For ethical development, the learners should see their superiors as their role models. Additionally, ethical leaders serve their subordinates. Everyone, including society, highly emulates a charitable leader. It is achieved by observing altruism actions in motivation, teamwork, leading, patriotism, and coaching. An ethical leader puts his/her subordinates first, thus serving them selflessly. Developing leaders look up to such traits to learn how to become good leaders. Positively ambitious individuals who aspire to be leaders learn from such ethical conduct. For example, when a principal donates part of their salary to fund the basketball team, the team will play hard to make their principal proud. Out of the principal's deed, the students learn that a good leader sometimes has to make sacrifices to succeed. 

Roles of Leadership values in Leadership Development and Application in an Educational Institution 

The application of leadership values in today's leadership development is crucial. In each organizational setting or society, there are highly encouraging values. In education, values that ignite both student's and teachers' positive leadership growth are essential as they ensure a future with good leadership ethics and values (McCleskey, 2014). When combined with patience, prudence is moral, leading to leaders making sound decisions in practical matters. A good leader should be patient when deal with different issues as a hasty judgment could lead to a wrong decision. For instance, when a professor reports a student to the principal due to inappropriate behavior in a class, the principal should take time to investigate the matter to avoid expelling the student wrongfully. 

The basis of ethical leadership is perseverance. A good leader should aim at attaining the main objectives of the organization he/she serves even though it requires taking significant risks and personal commitment (Bass, 1999). In combination with perseverance, leaders who have self-confidence perform very well. Self-confidence results in the development of a leader whose decisions are solid since they believe their decision is best even if they might seem tough. When a new soccer team coach is employed due to the school team not performing, they need to display good leadership values. They can create a policy whereby training time is increased. Qualification into the first team standards can also be set where students have to attain a specific academic grade and attend a certain number of training sessions for students to be in the first team. The team will develop leadership values and a sense of responsibility. 

Conclusion 

Today, value and ethic-based leadership are essential. The various societal or organizational settings have different beliefs of how an ethical leader should be. Factors such as culture, services or products offered, and the subordinates’ nature determine a leader's behavior. However, there is a set of globally acknowledged set values and ethics that a leader is supposed to possess. Leadership is a continuous growth process where leaders learn to be better leaders out of life experiences socially and professionally. Leaders and especially in schools, play a significant role in developing highly valued and ethical leaders in the future. Just as employees look up to their leaders, students at different levels of education look up to their professors and principals to emulate different traits from them. Ethical leadership in educational institutions is critical as the learner develops leadership skills from how their tutors and principal conduct themselves when addressing them and dealing with different issues. Therefore, ethics and values of leadership are crucial for every person that leads a group of people from the smallest unit of a family to the most complex organizational settings.
