Plagiarism is problematic to higher education because academic institutions are finding that they have to operate under the pro-active anti-plagiarism policy. In this, plagiarism is viewed as a serious breach of acceptable academic conduct. The act of taking someone’s work and using it without acknowledgment tends to delicate the nature of the intellectual property. Using someone’s work is a copyright violation and amounts to a breach of intellectual property. Institutions of higher learning, therefore, have to find policies to deal with the issue of plagiarism and to ensure that the students do not engage in any copyright violations while handling their academic papers (Bakhtiyari, 2014). As more concern shifts towards a proactive anti-plagiarism policy needs, institutions of higher learning are forced to identify measures that can be used to end the copyright violation in academic writing. Institutions of higher learning are required to have not a reactive but a proactive anti-plagiarism policy in place to curb academic deceit and use of other people’s work.
Part two
I/O psychology is the scientific study of human behavior within the organization and at the workplace. The I/O psychology can be divided into two sides, the industrial side and organizational side. Based on this psychology, “the industrial side focuses on the people who work in the organization, including training employees, developing job performance standards and measuring job performance”( Morelli et al., 2017) The organization side of psychology majorly deals with the understanding of how the organization affects the behaviors of the individuals. Various organizational factors such as social norms, organizational culture, management styles, and role expectations.

The I/O psychology can be applied in the organization to improve individual performance and well-being while also benefiting the organization as a whole. When applied within the organization, the management can understand the characteristics of the employees and how to make them increase their performance. While it enhances the wellbeing of the employees, it also benefits the organization through increased productivity. Therefore, I/O psychology can be used to benefit both the organization and the employees.
Part Three
Developing academic writing skills is important as it increases intellectual ability and development of advanced skills in the writing process. Plagiarism can have adverse effects on the writing process because it results in a violation of copyright and academic deceit. While paraphrasing the work of another person, it is always important to cite as a way of acknowledging the author of the work. Citations are a form of acknowledgment and a way to avoid plagiarism. A bad habit in writing can include incidences, where one uses the work of another person without acknowledging them as the author. Whether the contents has been paraphrased, it is still important to cite as a way to show that the information belongs to someone else.
The way to avoid plagiarism and copying someone’s work is to understand the context while writing. Understanding the research topic helps one avoid incidences of copying and pasting someone’s work. In the case of a direct quote, it is important to cite the author of the article. Reading wide through a variety of articles can help broaden one’s understanding of various issues and topics, which is one way to increase writing skills. While preparing to write an academic paper, utilization of a variety of articles is significant to get what different authors say about a given topic and then cite accordingly for any information that is paraphrased. This can help increase academic writing skills and assist one avoid cases of using someone’s work without acknowledgment.
