Ethics violations are common in workplaces especially in aspects that are considered minute. Following a review of a company's performance in the first half of the company calendar, specific ethical violations were reviewed. One of the ethical violations that stood out was time theft by employees (Chris). Most employees came to work late and left earlier but faked their reporting and departure times on the timesheets. The company core business is the management of data system, and the contracts involved converting manual documents to electronic and storing them in the electronic system. The company had specified timelines for all its projects and any extensions led to substantive losses. Employees have a target on documents to handle each day to meet the deadlines.
The issue of time theft by employees is usually overlooked, but it is a violation of ethics. Across all business setups, timely reporting to work and leaving at the right time are part of ethics. Also, using company resources for other purposes other than the company and especially during company tie is a violation of ethics. In order to curb the late arrivals and the fraudulent timesheets, the company needs to come up with an electronic registry for arrival and departure. The gadget automatically records when each employee enters workplace and leaves by swapping the employees card. The electronic gadget eliminates the possibility of employees lying about arrival times, and they report on the time and leave at the right time. The management is in a position to track arrival and departure times and deal with those that do not uphold ethics in regard to company time.
