Article A

The research article was written by team members who were involved in a research associated with the growth mindset and academic achievement. Evidence that they are the authors of the article is well explained by the reference of the first person pronoun when describing the two meta-analyses. The article was published in a peer-reviewed journal by experts in that field thus affirming its quality and authenticity. The report is referenced and contains the publisher’s website and serial number. It is scientifically valid with reasonable findings that assert the quality of the article. The article is a primary source document since it is written by people who conducted the actual research and published it in a peer-reviewed scientific journal. It is an original document with first-hand information obtained from the research findings.

Article B

The article is authored by a third party who derives the information from a newspaper magazine after it was published. The report is written in the third person, referring to authors who conducted the research. The article is not published in a peer-reviewed journal since it is a report derived from a published article, thus does not require vetting (Kratz & Strasser, 2015). It is also not a primary source but a secondary source from a journalist who published it in a newspaper magazine.

Article C

The article is authored by the person who conducted the research since it is explained in the first-person pronoun. The author refers to her research which she undertook together with her colleagues. The article is an online blog that is not published in a peer-reviewed journal. It is a primary scientific source written by the author who revisits her research.

Part 2

Now with the benefit of these additional criteria, which of these three articles would you use as your piece of scientific evidence for the “mindset” assignment? Why?

Article C can be a good piece of scientific evidence. It explains well how the mindset theory can be used to impact change in student’s performance. The author describes how she and her colleagues discovered the students’ mindsets and how they help them perceive their abilities. The right mindset played a crucial role in motivating students to perform better and boost their achievement. The theory asserts that the students who had confidence that their intelligence could be developed performed better compared to those who believed their intelligence could not change (Kratz & Strasser, 2015). The students with a growth mindset outperformed those with a fixed mindset. Furthermore, structured programs would assist the students in growing their reasoning capacity, thus increasing intellectual abilities required to perform better in schools.

Finally, the article explains that embracing the value of hard work and adopting new strategies from the growth mindset would lead to realisation exemplary performance. It is also evident that using the growth mindset concept automatically leads to gratifying results learned from the value of persistence and hard work. People's intelligence grows when they are willing to learn and apply a new concept or methodology in doing things that are meant to change their lives (Frisch, 2019). Nevertheless, having children focus on the learning process would change their mindset and desire to achieve high in their academic work. Therefore the article is a primary scientific source of evidence.
